Broadband options limited by incorrect internet speed
Hi everyone and thanks for help you can provide.
I'm looking to sign up with Sky Stream. I go through the options, but, when I select my broadband package, I'm told that the minimum speed of 30MBs isn't available at my postcode.
I'm pretty sure we had Internet with Sky some time back and that it was faster than that. I also live a couple of hundred metres from the local BT exchange.
Is there any way the Internet speed availability at my address can be confirmed and, if it is found to be quicker, that the stream options can be made available again?
Thanks again
Dave

Re: Broadband options limited by incorrect internet speed
Looks like the fastest speed is 17Mbps adst copper all the way
Are you with sky at the moment?
Could you post your stats if you are?
Are there any alt net providers in your area?

Re: Broadband options limited by incorrect internet speed
No, currently with Virgin and looking to move to a more reliable service. We work from home and stream a lot, so I don't think 17mbs will be suitable.
Thanks very much for your help 👍🏻

Re: Broadband options limited by incorrect internet speed
At the minute your best option is to stay with Virgin unfortunately

In this case that's not a good thing: broadband from an exchange itself is ADSL, and consequently much slower than broadband from a cabinet (FTTC)

Thanks both.
Do you know why it might say "available" for the FTTP availability date, but it says FTTP Unavailable at the bottom?

Re: Broadband options limited by incorrect internet speed
That's FTTPoD ('on demand') where the householder pays the full installation cost of a bespoke optical connection ahead of the national rollout reaching that area. While it's theoretically available pretty much everywhere, unless you've got some tens (or even hundreds) of thousands of pounds handy it's typically not relevant.
