Broadband keeps dropping

  • Upgraded from superfast to ultrafast in December. All ok until end of Feb when it failed, we had 3 lights on router, internet light was off. Took 7 days for sky to come look at it, he changed the box the ethernet cable goes into as he said that was the wrong one, still didn't work  and said it was an open reach problem. They came the day after tested all lines said it was fine then it started working again but he doesn't know what was wrong. worked fine for a week and a bit. Dropped again Tuesday this week, did all the sky app tests and they sent a msg saying it was open reach problem.  He arrived 2 days later (without prior notification and I was at work so had to find someone to let him in the house) he again changed the box, said it was the wrong one again and said there was a lose wire in there, did his tests said all was fine. Again working fine until this morning and it's gone again! Did the sky app tests and they have advised a sky engineer coming tomorrow. It's getting beyond a joke now. I've lost hours in work waiting around for engineers plus unable to do my overtime at home, no security cameras, no heating and no sky TV that I'm paying for!! Anyone have any idea why it's doing this as both sky engineers and open reach don't seem to know!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@georgefinlay1 it is pretty unusual fault but its possible a dodgy weld in the fibre which is causing an intermittent issue.

Re: Broadband keeps dropping

Thanks for the reply

Sky attended Saturday, again couldnt find the fault, got open reach attending today for the 4th time, more time off work to hang around waiting, an extra 2 days of no heating/security/tv and broadband, so fustrating!
