Why has my broadband started using WEP?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@bryan19772015 by default the older Sky hubs are set to WPA2-PSK however there is a user setting to weaken security to WEP. You can check the settings on your unit by going into the hub's web interface by ryping 192.168.0.1 into a browser as the wifi encryption level is shown on the landing page. If you need to change the setting you will have to open the wifi pages which requires you to log in with the username admin and the password sky or the default password onnthe hub's label depending on which hub you have.
The latest Sky Wifi Max hub uses WPA3 by default falling back to WPA2 for devices thst dont support the new standard.
The more interesting question is why you are seeing these warnings if you have not changed the settings yourself. It is possible its a false warning if the hub is in fact using WPA2 or that your hub has had its settings changed by someone with access to the hub if it is set to WEP. There have been other similar reports which have been raised with Sky but checking my own hub in writing this post it is still set to WPA2-PSK so there does not appear to be a firmware error .
It would help,if you can check your hub to find its actual setting and post how you became aware of the issue.
