Broadband is 1G but pretty slow
My broadband subscription is 1 G but the actual speed isn't over 500 mbps.
Just wondering, why is it so?
Thanks

Re: Broadband is 1G but pretty slow
What device(s) are you using to test the speed?
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Re: Broadband is 1G but pretty slow
Your speed is the speed to the router from the ISP.
If you want to test the speed you need to be connected to the router with an ethernet cable and not over WiFi.
500mbs over Wifi is about all you will get unless you are next to the Router, have a device that supports WiFi 6 and there are not too many other WiFi networks nearby. WiFi shares the available wirless spectrum with other users and there is only so much space.
I remember the Internet starting!
Sky Full Fibre & Virgin Media XGS-PON, with automatic failover using DrayTek multi WAN router.
Sky Q, which will be sadly missed when they decide to kill it off!
