Broadband 'freezing'

I currently have sky q broadband superfast. It's mostly OK except for online gaming where it's constantly freezing every 2 seconds. I've ran several tests and contacted sky who've told me there's no problem on the line. I've read in places that it could be the router and that it may need replacing with a third party router.

Firstly is what I've read correct and if so please recommend a router to purchase?

Secondly if not then what could the issue be?

@Declan1977 while it could be the router there are a number of other possible causes. Few questions

  • What device are you playing on?
  • how is the device connected to the Sky hub eg wifi, ethernet, powerline etc?
  •  Is this on one game or several?
  • Is the connection in use by other people while you are playing?
  • can you post your connection stats see Find your Sky Broadband router statistics
  • can you afford to pay over £200 for a gaming router? - they can cost double that but it gives an idea of what to suggest

With that information forum members should be able to offer suggestions
