Hi,
I don't understand why my router seems to disconnect at random intervals. Anywhere from 0 to 3 times a week. I complained about it, but all they did was send another router. Same problem. I have now put a timer on its plug to ensure it gets powered off for about 1 minute at 1am. But this morning (about 9:30am), it happened again.
Powering the router off and back on gets everything working again. The router doesn't seem to have an accessible power switch to make switching it off and on easy.
The WIFI is disabled.
When the router goes down, the first 2 leds stay green and the last one goes orange.
The ONT shows no error led.
The "Recent Activity Logs" only seem to show from when I powered it off and back on about 2-3 hours ago.
The router never seems to recover itself and requires a manual reboot.
I work from home and I am now looking at Toob internet as an alternative internet supplier because the Sky internet isn't reliable enough.
In the mean time does anyone know how I can get the router to work more reliably. And turning WIFI on is not an option.
Regards,
A tired customer

One either has a dodgy ethernet cable between the ONT and router or the public IP DHCP lease is expiring which would be a Sky backend issue that Sky has had with its DHCP servers for a long time.
The DHCP expiring can be checked via the support log. The ethernet cable between the ONT and router should be replaced.

Thank you. I will check the logs next time it fails to see if I can determine if the DHCP lease is expiring. I would expect the lease to be renewed when the router is powered off every morning at 1am though.

I still haven't determined if the DHCP lease is expiring because it seems to fail mostly when I am really busy or on a trip.
Anyway, I have installed Toob and that is working well. Very well in fact. At the moment, the only thing that uses the sky internet is the Sky Q box. Everything else uses the Toob internet.
Now I have to get my land line number moved to vonage and I will have reliable land line and internet again.
I will continue to pay my contract till it is up. and then reduce the internet to the minimum that the Sky Q box needs. But I need working landline as I get calls from family that are overseas on it and it is cheaper for them to call than my mobile.
