Re: Broadband Issues 10th May 2024
We dont own a microwave, and the heating with this weather isnt on, hot water isnt used either. Throughout the day if the hot water is used its fine. Just seems to oddly drop out in that time frame. I feel like sky are doing on purpose to make me seem crazy 🤣

Re: Broadband Issues 10th May 2024
Same issue here, internet completely drops out. Happens intermittently but often.
Started over the ast 3 days specifically, up till then I couldn't tell you the last time the connection dropped, been rock solid for years so very definitely an issue.
Even Sky router detects and comes up with "looks like your connection to the internet has dropped, lets try to fix it" but to no availabel (because it's the internet not the wifi)
Tried ethernet, reset router, switched off router for 20 minutes then back on. Happened so much last hour I couldn;t even keep a internet connection long enough to hit post on this.
EX Poscode.
Maybe related to the Solar Maximus EMPs (not a joke)?

Interesting usename @Green_tree2828 but you could be right as the solar storms causing the Aurora displays are very strong and nice long copper phone lines on poles act as pretty good aerials. However the VDSL signals are not helped by the huge amount of recent rain etc. Loads of issues on the FTTC services but customers with full fibre should be immune from both.

Re: Broadband Issues 10th May 2024
Yeah bit of a tongue in cheek username choice.
This recent issue aside Sky has always been rock solid stabilitywise vs my previous experience with the main competitor in my area.
Which is how I know something's really up because i've not encountered internet conectivity issues this prolific with Sky before. Ever. So somethigns up.
I'm a data engineer, previously IT Support for years so like to think I have an idea on whats what when it comes to this stuff.
No drop outs so far today but have been more towards the PM end of the day so we'll see.
FTTC here.
Cheers

M28 broadband
Broadband has been intermittent for days and then this dinner time it went off completely. Amber light solid. Any one else having this issue in the M28 area of Manchester?

Re: Broadband Issues 10th May 2024
The ADSL system I was using for the last 7 years with multiple points of failure (probably more and older infrastructure) was reliable.
I get the challenge of rolling out new infrastructure and teething issues but this isn't really new anymore and for them to claim it's "More reliable" is straight nonsense at this point.

For the connection to any given property, FTTP is undoubtedly more reliable than FTTC, G.fast and ADSL: the absence of issues caused when moisture mixes with electrical current in vintage Openreach copper 'phone' cabling circuits is a huge advantage, plus optical fibre is impervious to EM interference, massively more tolerant of extreme temperatures, and fusion splices don't creep , oxidize or otherwise fail over time like metallic crimps and punchdowns have always done.

All good on paper, but I've still had outages since being on FTTP and none that I can recall before that.

Re: Broadband Issues 10th May 2024
@wc25 thst you are having issues doesn't disprove that statistically full fibre is a much more reliable technology than VDSL which is better than ADSL it is basic physics. The thing to find out is why your connection is having issues. It wont be due to heavy rain or solar storms which can and do cause issues with copper phonelines.
Have you spoken to Sky about your issue?

Hi all,
Thank you for posting over the 10th regarding the broadband issues you were experiencing. There is some indication this was resolved and with that I'll be looking to now lock this thread moving forward.
If you are finding you are still experiencing any issues with your broadband, please perform the line test here: https://www.sky.com/pages/sky-com/test-your-broadband to check for any known issues at your local exchange.
If you do need further help after this, feel free to start a new thread with your own specific issue 🙂
Thanks,
