Hi all.
I have on average a 58mb connection.
Usually my pc that's cat7 cabled in gets about 52/3.
Recently, the speed has topped out at 38mbs.
But this morning my WiFi was at 54!
I've also tried different cables and different devices, I've cat5'd my wife's laptop in and got similar 38 but WiFi was still better.
I've spoken to Sky and they were less than helpful, telling me my numerous devices connected are slowing it down, but my devices are home security & smart plugs, all binary devices, they're not streaming 4k video!
No resolution was reached.
Can anyone help me?

Thank you

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAre you sure nothing was using bandwidth in the background on the PC when you run the test? Quite often we see background uploads causing the download speed to suffer during a speedtest.

@jamesn123 Hi there, sadly nothing else was running on either device when plugged in via cat cable. Network usage via task manager was between 0/1% until the test was run.
Interestingly enough, both WiFi & Wired have the same upload speed, but wildly different download.

Sure thing, I'm at work currently but will look into that later.
PC is directly wired via cat7 from lan port on back of the hub, straight into mobo on PC.
The laptop was the same but with a 2m cat 5 cable.
In terms of in home set up, I've got Sky Q and 4 mini boxes all in separate corners of the house. No boosters as of yet, as we've never had WiFi issues.
The PC is the only device that is wired in.
