Best solution for external HDD as network drives

Hi,

With my previous provider, I was able to connect an external HDD direct to the router via a USB port, and then use it as a shared network drive. Obviously, the Sky Hub does not have a USB port to allow me to replicate this and the only other option I have seen from a previous thread is to purchase a NAS server. Unfortunately, this is not an option at the moment so can anyone advise of a cheaper alternative to be able to do this?

Thanks in advance.

@Swervey

The only other way would be to buy a 3rd party router with a USB port and use that

Depends if you intend to replace the Sky hub outright or just plug a router/AP into the Sky hub via ethernet
