Being charged for returned equipment

Having ended my broadband account to go with another provider, I returned ALL requested equipment, by recorded post, within the time frame given. I received a number threats via text and email, warning me that I would be charged if the items were not received. It also advised me to ignore the messages if I'd already sent the items back - so I did.

Two months after the given returns deadline, I have just been informed they have applied charges to my account.  It is IMPOSSIBLE to get through to someone so as to discuss this and have it resolved.

Any suggestions please?
