Bad wifi. Can't upgrade.
Hi,
I have been on to sky numerous times this past week about my broadband basically being useless. Virginia are upgrading fibre broadband in the area and since then the wifi has been very low. TV, effected and only have working. I have sky q, plus 2 multiscreen boxes. All 3 are barely working. I can't connect my laptop, phones, or tablet to it at all. Sky today tried to tell me it's because I have an old system and need to upgrade to fibre for it all to work but as there is an emergency response system here we can't upgrade as we need a landline for it. Is anyone else having issues? I feel everytime I call sky with an issue the only answer is pay out more and get new boxes. When I got the 2nd multi box (60) that wouldn't work I was told my main box needed to be upgraded (another 60 euro). Is anyone else finding this? No real service any more just fork out money.

FTTP circuits provide voice service using a digital signal over the optical fibre: the issue with care alarms and similar systems is compatibility and (potentially) power supply. This is going to have to be addressed by both the manufacturers of such hardware and the national telecom provider, because the ultimate aim is to remove copper circuits entirely.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2
