BT/ee knocking on doors saying our broadband is being taken away

Just had BT/ee badge wearing annoying person knock on my door in the Enfield area if London. He said "Just to let you know, your broadband cable underground is going completely in a few weeks time yeah? It's all being ripped out and disconnected yeah? And you're going to have to change to switch from your underground broadband cable to these power) lines going overhead yeah?" [points to our overhead power cables and pole] "These overground lines are going to be the only way of getting your Internet, and we're checking that you're aware and you've switched over yeah? Your Internet broadband provider doesn't own these lines, they're provided by BT yeah? If you haven't switched over, you're going to lose your Internet... Your Internet provider on your router, should've emailed you about the switchover, they're not going to be providing their intetnet cables yeah? "

Sounded like complete garbage. I'm annoyed at his aggressive tone, drluberately talking too fast and I'm worried if he talks like this to elderly or vulnerable customers, they're going to switch providers unnecessarily.

So, firstly, he is talking complete garbage that Sky Broadband customers will no longer get broadband isn't he? And even if Sky changed from underground to overhead lines, we'd still get a service anyway wouldn't we?

I wanted to report this high speed gabbling, slightly aggressive scammer to BT/ee but their website is down. Bet it's flooded with complaints about their door to door salesmen. Or, they're anticipating floods of enquiries and disconnected their CS pages.

But I also wanted to tell Sky about this underhand, scaremongering, switch over persuading scam.

@erssiemajor That is 100% a scam, and its unlikely that the person or person's going around making those claims are employeed by either BT or EE, they are probably from a company that gets commision for making people switch.

There have been several reports of the same thing happening on social media where i live, they even make the same claim to those who use VIrgin media who don't use Openreach owned infastructure.

Edit,

I should add that Openreach are in the process of rolling out full fibre accross the country, this rollout shouldn't affect any current service.

Re: BT/ee knocking on doors saying our broadband is being taken away

The person 100% was with ee/BT. There was a team going round. But, he was being deliberately misleading using the changeover as scaremongering to persuade us to change provider. I'm 60 yrs old and I reckon he thought he'd try it on and I wouldn't notice it didn't make sense.

He was talking utter nonsense at 100 mps. I reported him to his manager, and to BT/ee.  I think he thought I was stupid enough to believe every Internet provider used a completely different method of bringing a service to your door, rather than many companies utilising the same tech and infrastructure from companies like OpenReach and sub-contracting so BT, Virgin, Sky are utilising the same lines. He said Sky would be emailing us to tell us we can no longer get our Internet underground and if we didn't sign up for a switchover, we'd be left without Internet and he was there to ensure we switched over in time.

We have a blanket policy in our house. Nobody, whatever they're peddling, gets any business from us via door to door sales.

We recognise a closer when we see one. And they always get slightly arsey and start piling the pressure so we leave them gabbling with a door closing in their face.

Salesman: Hello we are here today to...

Me : Let's cut the flannel. What are you selling?

Salesman: No, no, we're not selling at all..... We are just here to...

Me: Well that's a lie... , goodbye...

Slams door shut.
