@ChefJim  Have you tried to call and report this to Sky? These are older tech and might then be replaced with a newer type of ONT.

If someone has helped give them Like.

@ChefJim

You can choose to replace the cells within the Battery Backup Unit yourself (4xAA Ni-MH rechargeable) but perhaps be aware the BBU itself is essentially pointless because it doesn't power the internet router in the event of a mains power cut.

There's a useful video on YouTube, but the point about plugging a handset into the ONT is incorrect.

Alternatively you could take the mains power supply plug out of the BBU and connect it directly to the ONT.  Whether you then decide to remove the dead BBU is your choice: they are obsolete because they anticipated a voice telephony solution built-in to the ONT which never happened.

Note the BBU and ONT are two separate devices within that larger enclosure in your picture.

@ChefJim Having watched the video, is it not for you to get 4 batteries and change them out yourself? just keep quite via the phone call that you have made, you may struggle to get CS to understand, but you need an engineer from OR to come replace the batteries in the BBU for your system. Will be surprised if they treat this as a free for you, so do expect a possible charge against it,
