Awful slow 75Mbps for 8 years old

I have 75Mbps still stuck old copper line for 8 years can't upgrade to full fibre 500Mb or 900Mb because my apartment don't have fibre cable underground they haven't installed fibre cable many years from Sky & Virgin, I keep bidding new home waiting moving new home with full fibre or I'm thinking about change to 5G network broadband with unlimited data much faster 300Mbps download.

I'm tired of slow download any PC games bigger than 50Gb about 1 half hours done.

Sky company need install new fibre underground our apartment. 👨‍🔧

Download time calculator

75Mbps speed - 100Gb - 3hr 10mins

500Mbps speed - 100Gb - 29mins

I check download speed still solid 75Mbps awful old copper line no fibre 👎sky max 75Mbps 1.png

I tested mobile O2 5G download speed much faster 🤷 5G lucky not far in WV1 area.

Like most ISPs, Sky doesn't have its own fibre or copper infrastructure at all: it uses the national Openreach network and, recently, CityFibre optical cable where that's available.

@Wolves_Hero there is another issue with blocks of flats which is the freeholder has to agree to allow Openreach toinstall the necessary equipment to get fibre to each unit.

Given where he lives and the fact he appears to live in council accommodation that won't be an issue. Wolverhampton council signed a wayleave for all council properties back in 2022 so Openreach have automatic access. Also they're upgrading all council buildings/housing to fibre, just a matter of waiting for it to happen.
