Attempting to buy broadband for a house with an active subscription

In brief, moving to a new house that currently has an active Sky broadband subscription, and thus can't arrange Sky services, as the house already is linked to a different email account.

An ISP cannot discontinue service which has an active subscription.

A different ISP may be able to book the provisioning of a second data circuit to the property.

will I have to wait for the current owner to cancel/move their broadband prior to buying sky broadband for myself, or is there anyway to move their sky broadband contract to the new homeowner?

Contracts can't be moved between people: that would be open to malicious misuse.  Sky cannot do anything until the previous account holders either cancel or book a migration of the the service to a new address: obviously it's in their interest to do so as they are spending money on something they won't be able to use.
