Advised Full Fibre not available, but neighbour has it?.

Neighbour two doors along has full fibre Sky Broadband installed as a new customer. I have been advised by Sky only part fibre available after being a customer for many years? I need to wait for Open Teach, but City Fibre is fully available on our street, with City Fibre connection unit on street at next door neighbour.

Has anyone else had this issue with Sky? I am getting no where when I try to discuss this with them.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@SIMPSONGJ1 you can check if Openreach fibre is available at your address by using this link https://www.openreach.com/fibre-checker

City Fibre have a checker here https://cityfibre.com/homes Sky's database can lag by a couple of weeks but if both networks are available Sky will use City Fibre to reduce their costs. Occasionally there can be an issue if for example you have a care or medical alarm registered to your address. If that applies call in.

There can be a number of reasons why fibre is available in a neighbouring property but not in your's. One common reason if you live in a flst is that the extra equipment required in your block has not been installed as that requires both space and the cooperation of the freeholder. Other reasons can be your line is fed from a different distribution point or pole.

Thank you for your reply. Are you able to explain why we need Outreach if City Fibre is available on our street, and neighbours on our street, are connecting to Sky Full Fibre as new customers via City Fibre?
