2.4ghz network using old router details?

Slightly strange question this, so bear with me!  Bullet point format for ease:

  • Moved into new house last year - used a home 4g solution through 3 mobile
  • Full fibre from Sky installed about 8 months afterwards
  • Bought a doorbell on Prime day which only uses a 2.4ghz network
  • Logged into the router via the IP address on my browser, and the network name and password is for that network is...the same as the old 4G router, which is currently unplugged and sitting in a box in the loft!

Doesn't overly matter (at least, I hope it won't when I set the doorbell up at the weekend), I'm just baffled as to why and don't like not knowing 🙂

Cheers

@Fly+Q  If by network name & password you are referring to the default router access

ie: user name = admin

       Password  = wifi password

Are you sure you never changed the router access away from the default's when you had fttp installed?

Otherwise the odds of the access info being the same on both routers is a very slim chance > to no way in hell.

if it waz luck, I should buy a lottery ticket for tomorrow if I waz you lol

Tom...

Sky want us to believe in better
BELIEVE =accept that (something) is true, especially without proof.
BETTER = of a higher standard, or more suitable, pleasing, or effective than other things or people:

Sky Q & 2 mini’s
SR203 router. > Replaced with ASUS XT9’s with a TP-Link TD-W9970 modem
Sky superfast 80/20 :sort of, 63-75/15. Devolo 1200 wifi > Replaced with cat 6
Sony KDAF8 65 oled.

Re: 2.4ghz network using old router details?

Apologies, I mean the network name (ie, the visable name of the 2.4ghz network) - so the password I need to connect to the 2.4ghz network is the same i used to connect to the old 4G router.

I'm somewhat baffled haha - if the network names turn out to be a coincidence i'll of course buy a ticket and split the winnings with you!

@Fly+Q did you have an access point or booster on your old network as that would continue to broadcast the old SSID until connected to the new hub.by wifi.

Re: 2.4ghz network using old router details?

No, definitely didn't change it.  My only theory was that I set the new Sky router up whilst the 4G one was still connected, but quite how that would copy the details across is beyond me.

It works fine so no issues, it's jus the techie nerd in me won't rest until i've got to the bottom of it!
