Since receiving my broadband, I have only ever got 1-2mbps download speed on my pc when attempting to download games. We typically have very little amounts of devices conencted and on Sky's website it suggests that it is all running smoothly and has no issues with a minimum download speed of 600mbps. I have not been able to figure out why or if its my pc that is the problem. I am connected by two ethernet dongles: one by my router plugging from a plug socket directly to the wi-fi box and the other from a plug socket directly to my pc. Any ideas as to why and fixes to get the desired speed?

Powerline networking can vary between rather good and completely terrible depending on the specification of the adapters and the mains cabling in the property.
Ideally you'd connect the PC directly with the Hub over ethernet cable to check the speed being delivered from the internet.
Also make sure the PC has a gigabit rather than 100Mbs chipset, and the ethernet cable is Cat5e or above.
Some older/cheaper Powerline hardware is also 100Mbs only (maximum speed)

Also note that mbs isn't a speed rating.
It's either Mbs (Mega bits per second) or, if using Steam, MBs (Mega Bytes per second) which is eight times faster : 2MBs is 16Mbs.
