Prioritise a device on your WiFi with Sky WiFi Max

Whether you're jumping into an important video call or deep into an online gaming session, a strong, stable connection can make all the difference. That’s why we’ve introduced Device Priority a new feature available exclusively to Sky WiFi Max customers.

With Device Priority, you can choose one device to get an enhanced connection on your WiFi. Perfect for when you need an enhanced performance for work, streaming, or gaming.

How does it work?

Using the My Sky App you can:

  • Prioritise 1 device at a time
  • Prioritise for 1-8 hours at a time
  • Choose how long to prioritise it for
  • Extend or end the prioritisation at any time

While your chosen device gets an enhanced performance, your other devices will still stay connected – but they might experience slightly slower speeds during that time.

Getting started

To use Device Priority, you’ll need to have the Sky WiFi Max add-on as part of your broadband package.

How to prioritise a device?

  • Open the My Sky App
  • Click on Broadband
  • Click on Device Priority
  • Select the device you want to prioritise
  • Choose how long you want to prioritise for

That's it! You selected device will now get an enhanced connection untill:

  • The time runs out
  • You end or extend the prioritisation
  • A scheduled parental control downtime begins

How do I make a change?

To end prioritisation: Go to the same Device Priority screen in the My Sky app and tap End prioritisation.

To extend the time: Extend time, choose how many hours you want to add (up to 8), and you’re good to go.

What devices can be prioritised?

You can prioritise most wireless devices, including:

  • Laptops & desktops
  • Phones & tablets
  • Smart TVs & set-top boxes
  • Games consoles
  • VR headsets
  • E-readers and more

(Please Note: Devices connected via Ethernet (wired) or certain smart devices like baby monitors, security cameras, smart watches, and appliances can’t be prioritised.)
