Re: Q no sat signal new t.v. Cabinet

Please do let us know when 1 or both peices of equipment get fried, or worse burst into flames because of the heat your allowing to build up.   You'll be insured right?

And wood is a far better insulator than glass or metal.  Air that cannot move, as in a wooden box, is also a good insulator. Sounds like the perfect storm’s brewing.

And if that's a V1 Q box, then it gets even more hot and you can overheat the electronics in the box becuase of poor access to vent and poor ventalation in the stand.

Seriously, you could cause your box to overheat and in that case, I do think Sky would most likely charge you for the cost of a new box.

Once again I reiterate

I have absolutely no concerns with my digi tech operating temps.

Appreciate those whom seem  somewhat concerned

@Donfor  You have been suitably warned.  You might also wish to realise that Sky do monitor this forum and your actions re ignoring solid advice will likely have been logged to your account.  Thus should a fire occur Sky will be within their rights to refuse liability.    Oh............... so might your household insurers.  All the best.

I have Sky fibre router+Apple 4k t.v. Om top of q.

Rather than top of t.v. Unit.

Only other option requires drilling into display cabinet for both devices.

Could purchase a drill+exceptionally long Ethernet cable+hdmis cables.

I'll continue as is for some time, there is ample room inside top of shelf for some air flow from above.

@Donfor Have you thought about using brackets for the  Sky Router and the Apple tv  to minimise the risk of the Sky Q overheating.

Re: Q no sat signal new t.v. Cabinet

Thanks best of the best a sensible reply unlike  the previous reply to yours.

I shall have a look at brackets when I find time tonight.

I'm old school in that I've never had any tech heatihng probs at all.

@Donfor  Fair enough.  In view of that I’m out.  With an attitude such as yours giving advice seems a pointless exercise.  If never preiously having a tech heating problem means you won’t experience it and being “old school” means watching your house burn down and to find the insurers turn their back on account of you being “old school” is cool then crack on.  Seeking advice to lob it back in this manner seems strange to me but hey, crack on fella.  Bye.

Unfortunately if you ignore his “advice” that’s generally the type of response you get from that poster

Best ignore, and do the same for his tantrum response above

@skinner1965  Are you serious?  Take a look at some of your own posts and ‘advice’!  It appears @Donfor that Skinner is advising, contrary to everybody else, that you go ahead and cook your equipment.
