Programmed new remote..no problem....tried with original remote and it won't work. BUT new one will do the trick..much lighter in weight but I'll get used to it. Thanks again.

I have the same problem. A new remote and all the buttons work except the volume control. Please no-one suggest programming it to my tv as this has been done. Any real suggestions other than sending it back to Sky?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreReset the remote by taking the batteries out and pressing select for 30 seconds then re-programming the remote after reinserting the batteries

Clearly you didn't read his question fully...

Funny how a lot of random users are having this very problem this past month and no resolution offered by Sky. This clearly is a box software update issue (regardless of box/remote) . As usual with any software update from Sky and others similar platforms there are problems that they simply ignore. I wouldn't mind betting the next update will resolve it as they look on in total silence. It makes me smile how many people just keep saying 'reset your remote'. Have some respect for their intelligence and consider how many times they have tried this and it has failed to resolve the problem. This is a Sky problem and they need to resolve it.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out morePerhaps you didn't read @Annie+UK's answer fully @heavyend81. Annie suggested resetting the remote - which means deleting any code programmed into it - and then re-programming it. A perfectly sensible first step. Of course if you have any useful suggestion, I'm sure it would be welcomed.

It clearly isn't. The Sky remote controls the volume of the TV. The Sky box isn't involved. The remote would still control the TV volume even if you no longer had a Sky box. The Sky box and the software on it can't possibly have anything to do with it.

Exactly the same problem for me! Bought a new remote control as a couple of buttons missing off the old one. Everything is working on the new one - can change channels, record, pause, play, fast forward, rewind, all blue buttons etc ........... EXCEPT the volume control! Tried re-programming / taking batteries out etc etc - still no volume control! Red light on the remote lights up when volume up or down pressed but nothing happens on the tv!! Sooooooooooo frustrating. Have to change remotes and use the TV remote whenever we want to change volume.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreSky remotes come in different versions that can use different codes for your TV, there is usually a sticker in the battery compartment with the version number that you can use on this website to get the code for your TV https://sky.uebv.com/

Been there, done that! Put my remote version in plus TV make and model number and was given 2 alternative codes - neither worked. Still no volume control (also mute button doesn't work either).

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThere is a tedious process you can go through when the numbers don’t work, it effectively goes through every code stored in the remote one at a time, I unfortunately don’t have the procedure to do this but I know they are on the forum somewhere so a search might find them

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreDo you mean Blink Back @Annie+UK if so give this a try @SoosieG14 as the remote will tell you what the code is, you will need a pen and paper:
Press TV,
Hold Select and red together until the red light at the top of the Sky remote flashes twice.
Press 990, and the LED at the top of the remote blinks twice.
Press 1, take note of the number of red LED blinks, as this indicates the first digit of the code.
Press 2, take note of the number of red LED blinks, as this indicates the second digit of the code
Press 3, take note of the number of red LED blinks, as this indicates the third digit of the code
Press 4, take note of the number of red LED blinks, as this indicates the fourth digit of the code.
(0 is represented by no blinks when you press the key.)

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@caesarome doesn’t blink back just give you the code you programmed, I was thinking of the process that you have to keep pressing a button until the TV responds, once the TV gets the right code you can then use blink back to make a note of the numbers used

Thanks for that @caesarome . Tried it, got the code but volume & mute still wont work

I've done it! Yayyyy!!! After looking on various sites found by Googling, apparently my Panasonic TV has a 'Vestel chassis' (whatever that is?!!) The default code for Vestel is 0808. Tried it and Bingo! - I can now turn the volume up and down and mute!
