Why is Sky so much more expensive?

Hi Everyone

Just switched to SkyQ from Youview as it is no longer supported - Happy with everything so far but is there a reason Sky is so much more expensive than NowTV?

I used to pay £4.99 for movies on NowTV - Sky want £11 on an 18 month contract, again, Sky Sports is more on SkyQ

Is there any reason for this given NowTV is arguabbly better as you can watch anywhere you take the stick, something makes me think I have made a mistake moving to sky!

@76JB Surely you were aware of the costs of various parts of your package before you switched. It shouldn't come as a surprise, and I presume some of your package is currently discounted as well.

You need to learn to negotiate with Sky. A Cinema subscription can be had for a lot less than £11 a month. I pay £6 at the moment. You should only pay what you think the service is worth.

Now TV is limited to 1080P with 5.1 sound with an additional Boost subscription. Sky offers UHD, HDR & Atmos on some content.

Also, you can stream Sky content whilst away from home using the Sky Go app on a mobile device or laptop.

@76JB  If you are still within the cooling off period you have thirty-one days to cancel then you can go back to Now TV>

Re: Why is Sky so much more expensive?

Thanks everyone,

I happy with my £43 for signature and broadband, it just suprised me when I was considering movies / sports that they are on an 18 month contract and also so much more than Now 🙂

@76JBRemember that if you want HD or UHD it costs more as they are not included in the basic packages the first time this is usually noticed is when someone downloads a boxed set and they get the message to update their subscription.

HD is £7

HD + UHD is £11

@76JB If you where paying £4.99 for movies with NowTV thats because you had a 50% off deal, you could negotiate with Sky for a similar deal if you call(no guarantees obviously) the same goes for the sports package.
