Why do sky put on so many advertisements. We pay to watch programs not adverts

You do realise that without advertising revenue, programmes can't be made, right? The money that advertisers pay a channel is then given to production companies to make the shows you like to watch for free. You'd be the first to complain if your favourite show became financially unviable and was taken off air.
