When will sky ditch SD channels and make HD the minimum?

When will sky ditch SD channels and make HD the minimum?

getting fed up of seeing +1's in low def when I've missed something on the normal channel.

SD also looks far worse than it used to, especially on bbc1, not that I watch it I just default to 101 when I cycle through the channels & noticehow bad it looks.

Not all channels can afford to broadcast in HD so until almost all channels do then I don't this will change anytime soon.

@faser

It amazes me how many people sign up / switch to Q and take SD only packages. I think its a while before we'll see SD channels off the menu.

There has definitely been a quality drop over the years, no doubt a result of lower and lower bitrates and higher and higher compression to save on bandwith in order to eek out more capacity for the HD channels.

Alongside that our TVs are getting bigger and bigger. What was passable on a 28 inch CRT is never going to look good on a 65 inch screen no matter how intelligent the processing and upscaling is.
