Ubiquiti Dream Machine and Sky Q

We have added a Ubiquiti Dream Machine, and Ubiquiti Access Points to our home.  We have also hard wired the Sky Q boxes.  Every other product works fine on the network, but the SKY Q boxes are having issues with the DNS.  They are jumping in and out of connectivity constantly.  Has anybody else experienced this issue?

@Oliver+Alcock Sky Q known to not play well with a lot of managed switches.  Not sure if UDM Pro is one of them but others might know.

I have created a 2.4Ghz WIFI network to see if this is helpful.  I believe that Sky Q only wants to work on 2.4Ghz and not 5Ghz.

@Oliver+Alcock If using wired make sure wireless is switched of on all the Q boxes.  If using WiFi but not using Sky Router what happens is your main Q box connects to your 2.4ghz wifi and any mini boxes connect to the main box via Q's own 5ghz network.

Thank you, is there a way of manually disabling the WIFI on all boxes so that it needs to use the wired network for connectivity?

When connecting the boxes by ethernet, make sure when setting them up that you have at no point pressed any WPS buttons when prompted as this will override the ethernet and will connect wirelessly again.

On the main box, did you select Wired Connection?

And on the mini boxes, at step 2 of 4 on screen, you just need to let the boxes connect on their own which takes around 30 seconds.

Then to turn off the wifi on the boxes, go down to Settings but don't press Select. Instead type 0 0 1 Select to open the hidden menu. From there you can turn off the 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi. Press Confirm before you exit.

Can I just clarify what I think I just read...

The SKy-Q boxes (main, Mini and router) talk to each other on basically a 'private' wifi network vs the 'public' network that the router makes available to me for my laptop/phone etc..? 

... and I can disable the sky 'public' network, use a third party products line UI and the sky router/main box/mini will continue talking on their 'private' network without interuption?

I've had intermittent issues since installing a UDM pro and nano-HD AP. Main box is wired and the 2 mini boxes are over WiFi. 

im not sure these issues are limited to Unifi, I believe it's more that sky q doesn't like combined 2.4 and 5ghz SSID's as it uses 2.4.

I created a separate 2.4 SSID for sky Q (and sonos which is also annoying me) and it appears to be quite stable. My plan is to reintroduce the wired connection the main box and hope it stays stable.

My Sky Q works perfectly with my UDM Pro.

just hardwire it directly into the router and switch off the Wi-Fi on sky Q to stop it creating its own sky network. You can Do this by highlighting the settings menu, push 0,0,1 then select to access the installer menu and then go to network and turn off both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz Wi-Fi.
