Appears you may swap over to g.fast 150Mbps but might be soon coming to g.fast stop sale

Re: Cancelled Ultra Fibre Optic Broadband

I don't particularly care that Sky are pulling out - but for those customers who will be losing their fibre connection why cant they transfer us to an alternative provider - my only option seems to be to go for standard broadband through the phone line and get a new phone number.

Again, I suspect that because this was only ever a trial which the original ISP participants have now essentially lost interest in (and may well be losing money on), a lot of the required customer support and underlying technical mechanisms to facilitate things like transfers were either never put in place or have ceased to function.

Sky cannot just transfer you to another provider as there is no other FTTP provider available, and if they did and you weren't happy with your new provider then what?    What your assuming should be done is not realistic.

Until Openreach upgrade your area to FTTP then you will need to order what is available, all you are doing is complaining to fellow customers, we have no control over Sky pulling out of a Trial (and you would have been told it was a trial when you signed up).

I would direct your efforts in finding a replacement provider.

Re: Cancelled Ultra Fibre Optic Broadband

Sky's letter reads: "Unfortunately, Sky will no longer be operating on the network used to supply your services so we're unable to keep them running or offer you alternatives."

so according to their letter to me - they cannot provide any broadband at any speed...

It was spearheaded by city fibre so obviously talk talk are retaining that relationship as they are entitled to , as sky is entitled to withdraw. You at least more than most have options. Choose carefully 👍

@ukpab  No, it means they are no longer operating on the UFO network, Sky do operate on the Openreach network which is the alternative you can choose from.

Have you checked the Website to see of you can place an order for Broadband through them?  Have you called them to discuss your options and if they can provide you a service via the Openreach network?

Re: Cancelled Ultra Fibre Optic Broadband

Talk Talk have confirmed to me they are still offering the 1GB speed on the line - but I cannot transfer to them until Sky have disconnected me.

Thanks for the advice anyway guys - I guess I'll have to suck it up and find a standard provider.

I think that's probably the fundamental issue: I doubt the participants really understood the implications of their being used as guineapigs in such a trial project, and the likely subsequent complications if/when it ceased.

Re: York full fttp

@Shopkins

Do you have to cancel SKY now or do we have to wait until 18th October , I have similar issues getting an answer out of Talk Talk. SKY only offering 2.8mb/s on lur street and want to continuw with UFO. Did TT say how quickly they could get you working again?

Re: York full fttp

Saw someone metion the ended up going with Virgin Media.  They are by no means perfect but it might be a better option if available rather than tryng to sign up with Talk Talk for a service that they might end up killing at some point too.  Plus still in theory gives you the option of a gigabit connection if no openreach FTTP services are available.
