Thank you for that suggestion Bernie a sky engineer talked us through it a couple of nights ago but unfortunately it's still not working for us. We were supposed to get a call back from sky but guess what. So I will have to ring back and moan. We are with EE broadband so maybe this fix works for certain broadband providers and not others.

Does anyone from Sky read these messages or are we in an echo chamber? My Sky+ box was fine for years, now its not.. Ive tried direct connect and wireless - I have tried enough things to know this is related to being a BT broadband customer and not Sky - I can see why Sky is in no hurry to fix this as many people might move from BT -> Sky broadband as a result - it really does feel like Sky is mugging us all off here!

Same here, unable to download or watch Landscapers. Not much of an advertisement for Sky glass considering that is a streaming service! Don't think I'll bother with one of those.

@ep82 I like Sky when it's working too but they test my patients. It's always my broadband providers fault (which is BT) so i'm just gonna bin em next year when my contracts up. Obviously your options are limited unfortunately

@Toby+Woby @ I think this is just for us to 'vent' because misery loves company! The sky guy today (18 mins hold 40 on phone) said at least I can try the DNS change some others can't. Well it didn't work so no I don't feel any better. BUT I'm out of contract with sky (which they tried to get me to change today, lmao) but in contract with BT so it won't be my broadband provider I'm changing. He said this is a 'priority' to fix, but no idea when.

No sure if this will work for everyone as an interim measure as Sky are not likely to sort this quickly.

So, I downloaded Catch Up programmes within Sky Go to the sky box, not all worked, but some did.  May be useful.

Thanks @SecretBob - this worked for me.

I just checked again, for some reason the DNS change had reverted to the original settings. I just changed it to Cloudflare again (1.1.1.1). I switched off and on at the wall, made sure the Cloudflare setting was still in place, lo and behold, downloads now working

I have just rang sky up as really not happy with the service I have been receiving, been with them for 16 years and last few weeks been dreadful.

they are aware of the issue with other broadband providers mainly bt and it's something to do with bt apparently as when they update their stuff they do it at different times to sky and their updates not on same page as sky or something. 

also my issue apparently is not to do with my broadband but the fact I cancel my hd package as I didn't really see the difference in having hd to no hd so to me pointless paying extra so for me to get my downloading back I have to add hd package back on. Even tho I don't download hd programs only sd ones well try to.

they have no idea why my sky Q box keeps disconnecting from my router tho but they did offer me sky broadband to solve my issue. Told them I left as my signal was bad and my son kept lagging on his PlayStation gaming but he dosent have that issue with bt but I have tv issues.

Well my issue is still ongoing almost 3 weeks now, I managed to download 1 episode of Grimm this afternoon then after that no episodes would download, although I managed to download a movie.

I am also with BT.

Well that didn't last long. We had a couple of days of downloads working fine following a software update, now they all fail again.

@Rayn  Cloudflare is a free public DNS server. A DNS server is a directory server that tells your devices what address to go to out on the internet. Google have one (8.8.8.8), most ISP's (e.g. BT) have their own DNS servers for their own customers. The DNS servers are supposed to sync globally, so if a server e.g. Sky.com changes its address, the change is broadcast to all DNS  servers so that devices can still connect despite the change. 

My guess, is that SKY have changed something in their DNS that hasn't propagated to the BT servers correctly. Especially since it works with Cloudflare and Google DNS.
