@bob1234 Thanks - exactly as I said, the channel guide was available prior to purchase. That's all that needs to be said. 👍

@Satele - i do not have the Hisense it was just an example of a similiarly priced TV. You are basing your entire arguemnt on the includion of a soundbar and ingnoring the most important point, picture quality. Wgile also ignoring sub par software. That is the point

😂

@Jon+Reeve Oh you pesky Sky PR plant! Don't be so rational!
22 Oct 2021 12:29 PM
@CliffyCliff I didn't say you had it and it matters not a jot to me.
One last time - I am basing my argument on the fact that for £1k I am purchasing a mid-range 4K HDR tv with an integrated Dolby Atmos capable soundbar.
So, as we've acknowledged the latter can't be purchased for less than £300. That gives us £700 to compare Sky Glass as TV only (breaking it down to your picture quality argument) to the competition. Result? Sky Glass compares vary favourably to 65" TVs in the £700 price bracket and is in no way sub-par.
The end.

@Satele wrote:@Tom+Adamson It doesn't have limited channel function - you can watch all terrestrial channels as you can on freeview. We are talkin about record and playback functionality which some folk have a gripe with because they've failed to understand the product.
Actually you can't it does not have the GREAT! movies channels which are on freeview and I often watch, one of the reasons I am not getting glass yet.
However I have now seen a live one in a friends house and am impressed with the quality of picture and sound, however I am not looking for something that pretends to be a cinema I have always thought when having genuine surround sound on a TV sounds unnatural.

@Satele is now trolling you all. I'd go with either they or their other half work for Sky, they're far to aggressive in thier defence of a flawed product launch.
"valid teething problems" 🤣🤣🤣

how ironic. you can watch all the programs available on Freeview. so why pay a subscription to Sky to watch free stuff?

@Anonymous Are we allowed to make accusations like this on the forum - I think probably not.
Neither myself, nor any of my family work for Sky. If we did, I'd have enjoyed the benefits of a friends and family discount for the past 15+ years.

@Satele You are correct, as hundreds have already done, I'll carry on with my sky q thanks pal👍

@Anonymous @I'm beginning to agree with you, seems deluded

Have to agree completely @Anonymous

@MarkyMamil because in the package you pay for you get the freeview channels and the Sky channels along with netflix basic

Yes, you pay Sky to get ITV in SD on SkyGlass with ALL the adverts

I'm pretty sure the Sony HTX8500 is a pretty valid comparison albeit a seperate soundbar. It's well regarded, delivers Dolby Atmos (well a faux version the same as Sky Glass e.g. no upfiring speakers), and is available for £299.
But then I also think the Hisense is 65A7GQ is a cracking TV, the same spec (if not build quality) as Sky Glass and only £699.
I think it is entirely possible to put together a comparable (and probably more flexible) set up to Sky Glass for the same money (actually less and with a 5 year warranty), but that isn't actually the point here is it?
Sky are clearly trying to move towards being an "experience" company, where the actual technicals about how it works don't really matter. More Apple like in many ways.
Sky Glass is going to appeal to a lot of people because of how it looks, perceived ease of use and how it embraces the clear changes in viewing habits. With a few software updates, many people will be very happy. And lest we forget that those of us who care about the best picture quality are often in a minority in our own homes, let alone the real world.
I have an OLED, my broadband isn't fast enough to support the viewing experience I would want currently with Glass and I love live sport, so having used NOW TV in the past and knowing that the person sitting next to me is getting updates on their mobile about goals being scored 90 seconds before we watch it, I knew early on that as much as I liked the concept, it isn't for me at the moment.
There are clearly (and I mean this in the nicest way), a few people that really should have waited before investing in the new shiny toy or at least made some more effort to understand how Glass is a different experience to Q. Meanwhile, others are getting exactly what they expected.
There is no point arguing about it, either send it back or put your big pants on and work positively and proactively to improve it.
A number of the issues being reported are the joy of being an early adopter. Caveat emptor.
