Re: SkyGlass Awful
I expect most people cancelling the Glass service but keeping the TV are paying for it in 24/48 monthly payments.

Re: SkyGlass Awful
Those sending the Glass TV/Subscription back due to lags and glitches are abit premature... it will get better with updates. My issue is selling us a premium service but it's not is it??
On Q you can record all your programs in HD and UHD. Both my wife and I work full time and NEVER watch our programs Live... not the problem with Glass is the apps. Wife watches Corro and Eastenders... but Itv hub is a SD app. So we've but a 65" QLED Quantum Dot TV but most things my wife watches will be in SD... Come on that's wrong.
Then my Sports. Live in UHD but to watch back only in HD. That's not what ordered... Wife has no idea what programs she's watched and it doesn't show you in playlist.
Think ill be going back to Q. 😕 Great idea but it's not as good as Q.

Re: SkyGlass Awful
Even if you've bought the tv on 24/48 monthly deal you can still send it back within 31 days and the agreement is cancelled.
I'm guessing you mean that a relatively small monthly payment might be a small price to pay for a tv.

Beat me to it. Given it's a new unit there are bound to be defective units out there and it sounds like some might of gotten some. I seen people before when they get a good unit they tend to forget that there could be a broken one out there.
Another possibility not everyone considers is the route the traffic takes to get to them. It's possible the traffic has ended up passing through a route that's got additional latency or even having packets dropped randomly for whatever reason like a main route failed or router failed. Not everyone can see these things because of how well the internet is built and can suffer some failures without anyone noticing but it does not mean the redundancy routes are as good as the main routes and stuff like that can affect people's experience when streaming.
I haven't forgetten anything and that's exactly the point I'm making. The issues isn't inherent to Glass itself the way some folk make out but rather appears to be faulty units. This is normal and a forum will always show the bad more than the good.

Re: SkyGlass Awful
I received my first 55" glass on 25th October, very poor picture quality across all content, sound not great either.
Sent it back and received my 2nd 55" glass on 29th October, exactly the same issues, very poor picture and again the sound wasn't great.
In my opinion this isn't the odd faulty unit.
The hardware is severely lacking and cannot put out any content as it was intended.
I've gone back to my 2019 Samsung QLED, it's like having a brand new tv.

No, it isn't and yes it absoutely can. Plenty of Glass owners can attest to this.
This has been done to death.

Re: SkyGlass Awful
@Satele i don't think this many issues is normal and quality control questions should be asked. I'm guessing by the actual manufacturer which after a quick google is TP vision who primarily make TVs sold under the Phillips brand. After a bit of digging it's becoming clearer to me that the hardware is seriously marked up by sky.

While there may be some people having hardware issues simply due to the fact you will always have some faulty sets I'm not sure its that simple. On here and other places on the internet I've seen people post images of their TV's who have been saying how great the image is and these images are often slightly off centre and you can see the image washing out the way I saw on my set which is due to really poor viewing angles (We are talking moving less than 10 degrees off centre and it will see one side of the screen wash out, to the right and its the left that washes out or to the left and its the right) and that suggests it's not an isolated hardware issue, maybe they are lucky and their viewing angle of all those who will be watching is always straight on but most peoples living rooms doesn't allow that for everyone watching

Re: SkyGlass Awful
Ok you are correct of course.
If your happy with a wishy washy sub standard less than HD picture when it should be uhd hdr then I'm happy for you.
It's been done to death when you put up the last post I take it.
I guess I was unlucky twice with a fault unit......then another faulty unit!!

Re: SkyGlass Awful
It might sound crappy, but are Sky holding back for V2 of their Glass TV. For example, I love my Apple products, but I know they are sitting on tech for each release, that's how they keep people like me coming back.
Sky started out with HD, then + came along, before Q and I fully expect a Q V2 coming along in the next couple of years with UHD minis; with Glass it can clearly be done. We all have expectations, but 20 years ago we couldn't record a TV show without a VCR and a cassette which only had three hours of recording time.
If I’ve helped today, give me a like.
Sky Stream and whole home.

Re: SkyGlass Awful
@lfcg I think a lot of Glass adopters were looking for a more modern TV and an affordable monthly interest free way to get one on their Sky bill is a good option as any, even if they don't have the Glass service, plus I guess they could also have the option of returning to the full Glass service at a later date, assuming Sky allow this...

And there's the point, there is absolutely nothign sub-standard or less than HD picture quality (whatever that means) about my set.
The point I'm making is that myself and others have got sets that function exactly as expected and with great quality. Enough to keep me from going back to my 6 month old 65" Ambilight.

An incredibly obtuse and judgmental comment, to be honest. So basically are you suggesting that the folk happy with Sky Glass are unable to afford the TV outright and therefore settling for it?
