They are probably unaware of that when they sell it, I think the box has been working for a good few months, I will ask next time I see him.

Yep, they're not disabled immediately, but it will happen eventually.

I never said they was not stolen, and I never promoted it, I simply stated my mate bought one and has had it for months and it is working no problem,FACT

Although Sky can and do disable main boxes, I believe it is more complicated to disable mini boxes although I have no proof one way or the other whether they disable mini boxes or not.

My one experience of a sky minibox multiscreen subscription ending was that the minibox was disabled overnight on the date it was due to end

@nolteRemoving multiscreen does not actually disable the mini box however it will not work unless you have multiscreen.

Non-return of loaned items (or their use by someone who shouldn't have them) would be a civil matter, but Sky can, I suspect, afford very good lawyers ; )

Theft though sale, however, would most likely be a criminal act on the part of the original contract holder.

@bob1234 so it isn't disabled, it just does not work without it

I'm not sure I understand the difference between the not working part and the disabled part

(unless you mean, it could work with a different sky q that had a multiscreen subscription)

@nolteWhat I really mean is that as mini boxes will not work without multiscreen we have no way of knowing if the box is disabled or not.

So ... if I can summarise my understanding ... what people who have pulled this off have managed to achieve is to have an extra mini box that they didn't have to pay £99 for (but they had to pay something for it presumably) but they still have to pay their SkyQ  plus extra £12 a month?

And can only use 2 minis at the same time, the same as anyone else?

I have to say, it doesn't sound like the most audacious or profitable heist ever.

A more accurate summary would be to say they've often paid for for a mini box than they would if they contacted Sky AND the mini box may stop working at any point as they're not the authorised user!

@ChodleyActually they are usually fairly foolish as often the price the mini boxes are sold for far outway the £50 Sky charge on an upfront basis. I have seen them for £100 so even if they work it is pointless.

There are currently 3 on ebay for between £77 and £99 plus p&p.
