Re: Sky Q replacement box non HDR

I had another swap today and again was the 32b0 box, anyway after a short phone call, they have a shortage but offered me the 1tb uhd box and a full refund of the install cost of a 2tb box, so I'm happy but with many recordings going I'm pretty sure that we will utilise that 1tb in no time, films, full of kids stuff etc. We shall see 🙂

Re: Sky Q replacement box non HDR

I have one of the original v1 2tb Sky Q boxes. I have a Sony tv that supports HDR so I finally decided to ask Sky why I was unable to access this feature. Of course they came back and said unfortunately my v1 box did not support this. If I wished they could replace it with  an HDR capable 1tb box for which they would require me top pay £99!!

What a cheek.... I have been a Sky customer for over 20 years and would expect to have equipment that offers all the features advertised. You don't even own Sky Q boxes, they are on loan from Sky so why should I have to pay £99 for an inferior storage size box to be able to access a feature that a new subscriber will get as standard. Come on Sky, get your act together and look after your loyal customers.

£99 is the standard Engineer upgrade admin charge - did you ask for a self install price ?

Before the shortage of 2TB HDR boxes the self install prices were £25 for 1TB & £50 for the 2TB - personally I think the £50 for the 2TB was excessive

Re: Sky Q replacement box non HDR

There was no mention of the £99 being an installation charge, extract from Sky's email below -

"I wish to inform you that, we have temporarily stopped providing the Sky Q 2TB Boxes to any of our Customer. However, if you want an HDR Box we can provide you a Sky Q 1TB UHD Box but you will be charged £99.00 for it."

@Bob+Costain

Maybe it's a penalty price for a late payment... But a 1tb UHD HDR box upgrade should only be £25, with the 2tb UHD HDR box at £50. No idea where the £99 comes from.

Re: Sky Q replacement box non HDR

Maybe it's a penalty for being a long term customer😂, but seriously they need to get their act together. How long is 1tb going to last once you start downloading in UHD, not long I think!

Re: Sky Q replacement box non HDR

I finally had the engineer visit and got the hdr box Version 32B2, model ES340. I had to wait 3 weeks for this. Initially enginner gave me the scare as he wasn't given the correct information but thank God, he was carrying the correct box with him.

One thing I won't accept the 1 TB box at all as it will be full in days. But one has to weigh in the full cost. What are you getting back now and how much would you be paying for a 2tb hdr box later on.
