Re: Sky Q Release Q17

I'm guessing some pages are timing-out?

For example, I went to HOME - TV GUIDE - NEW SERIES. First time all I got was a "Please wait" and after about 10 seconds, just one tile.  Tried again, and the second time I got the same "Please Wait", and eventually 16 tiles appeared. On the third attempt, 32 tiles.  Finally, on the fourth attempt, 49 tiles appeared.

EDIT: Similarly on CATCHUP - FEATURED. First time accessing, got 1 rail. Second attempt, 3 rails. Third attempt, ........ and so on. Eventually after several attempts, got all 13 rails.

Also seeing several cases of it just giving up and says "Sorry, because of a technical issue, you're currently experiencing a limited service. Please be assured that we're working hard to fix the problem".

NOTE: Connection speed to the Sky Q box is 135 Mbps (measured using the Netflix app).

@digglerthelegend

Thanks assumed it would be there, no sign of it for me, all I have is IP settings (mine are set to manual not that should make a difference)

How strange, might appear after a box restart...

Make sure you haven't turned 2.4Ghz OFF in the Engineers menu.

If it is any consolation I had the same.

Re: Sky Q Release Q17

In general I like the rails.  However, with Sky as there's only an "exit" button and not a "back/return" button it's hard to navigate back out with just a rail as there's no quick way to the left (or is there?)

We don't have Q170, still on Q160.  With it you can't move left from the tab bar, but you could from the list - if that's now gone...

How do you do this now?

Just trying to pre-empt the moans from the Mrs as well 😉

One of the benefits of being divorced. No wife to to swear at anything.  😀

Re: Sky Q Release Q17

Stupid question time, what benefits are there with enabling the hotspot setting?

@Tonkie

In theory, better domestic WiFi coverage for all wireless devices, particularly in a household with several Mini boxes.  Unfortunately only the 2.4Ghz signal is repeated, so it's nowhere near as useful as might first appear.

Re: Sky Q Release Q17

@Tonkie It turns all the Sky Q boxes into Wi-Fi hotspots (basically that "boost"/repeat you WiFi signal).  Creats a mesh network that devices can connect to.  With Sky braodband and the correct sky router this features has been there from the start.  Some say its ok, I have found it pretty useless and in some way very troublesome.  Sky are basically opening this up to non sky bb customers where you can have the boxes act as hot spots.  However this will only be on the 2.4ghz network.  For most folk it will have no benefit or actually cause slow downs.

@TimmyBGood

@bemak187

thanks for that, no use to me then, I can't complain about my WiFi coverage
