Sky Q Mini Wireless Boost

Hello,

I'm currently working in my loft (as an office space) and my wifi is pretty flaky, especially doing Teams calls all day.

I have the SR203 hub, 2 Sky Q mini boxes & the main sky Q box

If I connected all my sky Q boxes via ethernet (I have ethernet in all the TV rooms, stupidly didnt get any connected to the loft), would the Sky Q Boxes give a better wifi signal? Or do you have to turn off the WiFi mesh to use the ethernet direct to sky Q boxes

(All the Sky Q boxes are on the ground floor of the house, my office is on the third floor, I have already tried a powerline set up, it keep failing)

You can use ethernet on the Sky Q boxes and still leave wifi on for the minis to act as wifi hotspots.

When you connect the main box by ethernet, go to Settings / Setup / Network / Reset, and select Wired Connection.

When the mini(s) is connected by ethernet, go to Settings / Setup / Network / Reset, and at step 2 of 4 on screen, DON'T press any WPS buttons when prompted as this will override the ethernet and will try to connect wirelessly again. Instead just let it connect on its own which takes around 30 seconds. This ensures that the mini box is properly connected by ethernet.

Thanks Rhonny,

By doing what you suggest, should this improve the wifi hotspot power and in effect boost the signal to the loft?

@JJ34

Save yourself the hassle and just get some powerline adapters so you can get a wired connection to your PC/Mac in your loft space - that's what I did when the pandemic started and it's worked flawlessly since, and is essential if you're doing a lot of Teams/Zoom/FaceTime calls.

I get a sustained 74Mbps download and 19Mbps upload speed using an ethernet connection from the TP-Link powerline adapter I have in my home office. It's connected to a cheap USB 3.0 ethernet adapter on my MacBook Pro. It's pretty much exactly the same speed I get if I'm wired directly into my Sky Hub router.
