Re: Sky HDR

@Sky+Go+lfer

Optical input?? For the sound to get from the Sky Q box to your Sonos Playbar, the Sky box would need an optical OUTPUT, which they all have. What am I missing here??

@Sky+Go+lfer

No Q box is going to have any audio input: that's very unlikely on a source device.  They all have optical audio output, and Mini boxes have an additional option of stereo analogue output alongside composite video over a minijack adapter.

Re: Sky HDR

Sorry got my inputs and outputs mixed up!!!

From the earlier response I take it that the Sky Q 2TB HDR has the Optical Audio output right?

Just asking as it's important to my config, and some of my other boxes such as my Amazon Fire TV Cube and my Apple TV dropped the Optical Audio capability.

Thanks again.

All Sky boxes have optical out.

Re: Sky HDR

HDR would have been a nice upgrade but unfortunately my Q box does not support it! So basically, as a long standing Sky subscriber you get less for your subscription than a newcomer. I realise it's a hardware issue, but it smacks of the old issue that new subscribers get a better deal than existing subscribers.

Just moaning.

Re: Sky HDR

@NMF26  yes but new subscribers have newer technology to the boxes it's not sky's fault as such just the tech didn't exist when us early subscribers got the boxes

Re: Sky HDR

Yeah, I know that and as I said, it's just me moaning. Perhaps they could enable us existing long standing subscribers to swap the box for one that will enable HDR?

Re: Sky HDR

My first try with Samsung Q80T and Sky sound box. . wasn't pulling HLG as Samsung wouldn't give to option to change of of BT.18**  setting for HLG.

Any try tonight as better set up of the TV

Re: Sky HDR

Have they said there will be and upgrade system? OK, I didn't know that. Let's see what happens then. Not that I don't believe you, but where did they say that?

Re: Sky HDR

@NMF26  on one of the many pages here probably on more than one page to be honest and from people who have rang sky asking.

Re: Sky HDR

I'd like to see that statement on their web site. Along with them saying it would be a non-cost upgrade!

Re: Sky HDR

@NMF26  ask them to implement it then. (There's absolutely no pleasing some people)

Re: Sky HDR

I'll duck out of this now , if the conversation is going to get snidely.
