Re: Sky HDR

I am a Diamond  customer and have been with Sky pretty much since they started.

I 'upgraded' to Q in Nov 17, just before v2 boxes were issued.

Unlike HD boxes which customers bought and we accepted could get out of step with new features they were not designed for, Q boxes are Sky owned and my belief is that they should all perform functionally the same for the same subscription rate.

I have been looking forward to HDR as I love nature programmes and if my box doesn't support it, I will be demanding a subcription reduction until it does or a box swap. It is not acceptable for them to screw loyal customers for an unspecified time. I suspect v1 may never get HDR...

Re: Sky HDR

Is there anyway to check which version of sky q you have by looking at the settings on the box itself rather than the separate power supply thing.

If I'm paying for a uhd subscription and it turns out I have a V1 box and no HDR, and sky don't replace my box for free, by bye sky subscription. Its skys fault the boxs are incompatible, not the consumers.im sure many more people will feel like me!

Before anyone worries about which box you have it is worth checking if your TV is compatible with HLG as apparently that is the standard they will be using. If you have an old box and have not changed your TV since you got it then it may well not display HDR anyway.

Re: Sky HDR

So of it has a 0 its V1 and if it has a 1 its V2?

Why? I'm sure people will take responsibility for their own tv without protectingskys interests above all else. 😀

Re: Sky HDR

The problem sky has with all this is you can't charge people who can't access hdr, and people who can, with the same subscription, ..you would be receiving a lesser service for the same price.

Re: Sky HDR

32B205 or 32B206

If its ends in 5, than its the 1TB, mine ends 06 and is the 2TB

Re: Sky HDR

Sorry that doesn't tell you if its compatible with hdr or not, just the size of the hardrive... I thought we have to find out if its V1 or V2 of the box itself, with only V2 being allegedly eligible

Re: Sky HDR

I have been a Sky subscriber for over 30 years and have always upgraded to the next major development like SKY Q.

Having seen that my SKY Q V1 2tb box is not capable of receiving HDR,  it is a major disappointment.

I understand that SKY  are not upgrading the boxes which compounds my disappointment.

My contract is up for renewal in December and if I have not received an upgraded box I shall be seriously considering cancelling my contract.

I have been eagerly awaiting the HDR implementation and not to be able to take advantage of this feature is a game changer for me.

Sky will be upgrading V1 boxes, but that process has been delayed by  COVID-19. It will be happening later in the year.

That's almost certainly why they're keeping relatively quiet about the launch and only starting with a small range of content.

I wonder even if people know which standard their TVs support I have two Sony TVs bought about 2 years ago one just says HDR in the book the other gives a list of HDR standards it supports.

Re: Sky HDR

If you have a TV that doesn't do HLG (I'm fortunate that mine does), will it not just convert it to HDR10?  My previous TV didn't do Dolby Vision, but it just converted any DV content to HDR (HDR10).
