Re: Sky HDR

Hi @Juan+Pablo   Sorry you will just have to wait with a million others in the same boat.

Re: Sky HDR

@Juan+Pablo

You can call them but I don't imagine they will see any imperative to change your box as it works in providing the service you signed up to.

I've just ordered Sky Q and expect delivery in mid June. I'm very much trusting that the box that's delivered will be the latest model with HDR compatibilty and that they're still not issuing older non-compatible boxes?

@skydiddle There are three boxes which are compatible with HDR

1TB UHD Sky Q Box

V2  2TB UHD Sky Q Box

V3 2TB UHD Sky Q Box

@rawhide1 @you haven't by chance got something like eco mode switched on in TV settings have you? I know with my LG that if eco is active it really dims the picture.

Re: Sky HDR

I've got a version 2 Sky 2TB box and have been able to watch the lemur thing in HDR. To be honest it the pq was ok, but have seen much better. The 7 worlds one planet that was on iPlayer in HLG was absolutely stunning.

Me I would ring up and get it confirmed what box u r getting and get them to send u confirmation by email to late when they arrive at your house with a V1

I ordered Sky Q at the end of April and my install date isn't until 20th June, but if they try and give me anything other than a brand spanking new 2TB v.3 then they will be sent on their way until they can provide what was ordered and paid for.

I won't be happy if they give my box to one of you moaning buggers because you can't see a couple of monkeys in pretty colours, at least you already have Sky Q! 😂

@Anonymous  Customers on here who have the V1 2TB box have to wait because new installs like yourself take precedent over those who have already got Sky Q as you so kindly put it

They have to wait alot longer dependending on how many new installs are in place before Sky roll out  the box replacement process also the COVID-19 is also impacting on new installs and the boxes getting replaced

Unless your tv supports HLG having a V3 box isn't going to make any difference.

Re: Sky HDR

I'm another with a V1 box, pretty fuming about the situation to be honest.

I have seen this post

As some of you have found out we've not been able to build the 2TBv1 upgrade journey. A few weeks ago we had a decision to make to either further delay or try and push ahead. We went with the latter on the basis that we've only released a very small library of content and our intention is to build the upgrade journey in the coming months as we increase the content.

There's little point to phoning us looking for an upgrade until the journey has been built and I know it's been mentioned in passing but we swap like for like boxes when doing service visits. At the moment it's a case of waiting it out as annoying as it is.

Thanks,

It would be nice to believe what is being said.  Unfortunately, I can't say that Sky have ever done anything to instill trust.  I have been with Sky forever, early adopter helping them to roll out new technology (hence why I am on a V1 box) but there have been plenty of fights along the way.

Okay @Kei+M I am happy to wait but not for long.  When Sky have said things like '2TBv1 Upgrade Journey' in the past they have simply been words to placate in the short term and it never happens, or drags on for ages - how long have Sky been telling customers (including those V1 boxes) that HDR is coming - years, from the first days of Sky Q.

So happy to wait a while as a second class customer and not pester you, but I want something a bit more concrete than excecutive mumbo jumbo like '"TBv1 Upgrade Journey'.

When can V1 owners expect to be able to receive HDR material - timescale please?

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: Sky HDR

@MrTusc

The iPlayer HLG HDR was via a built-in app on your TV. Sky's HLG HDR is via HDMI. I'll stake my house on the fact your HDMI input isn't set correctly on your TV to view HDR.

Do you have a Sony by any chance?

Re: Sky HDR

No, I've got a 2019 LG Oled and it is set up properly. You're right the iPlayer content was via the TV's inbuilt app.

Re: Sky HDR

The "2TBv1 Upgrade Journey"

Fine expression to go into the exec summary slide of a PowerPoint pack.

But what does it mean in reality?  What is the timescale for early adopter, loyal customers with V1 boxes to be able to receive the HDR material made available to other customers?

I understand the situation and I don't mind waiting, but not for long.

What is the planned schedule - are we talking a few months, 6 months, a year, years?

Is there any real commitment to resolve this or will it be the usual situation of doing nothing unless loyal customers ring up to cancel.

Cheers,

Nigel

@TheDeathOfRats

Your name, The Death of Rats... may I plagiarise it?

My friends and I have had enough of the barber shop scene and have been considering forming a post-punk fusion of headbangers and we've been searching for the right name to go with our look.

Think Roland Rat meets Lemmy.

Re: Sky HDR

@MrTusc

So it's saying HDR in the on-screen info? And you have UHD HDMI DEEP COLOR on for that HDMI input? It's just hard to fathom why it's not looking fantastic on your TV.

@Anonymous

"The Death of Rats"  (aka "The Grim Squeaker") is a character in several of the Discworld novels by the late (and much missed) Terry Pratchett.  There's probably one or two references to it online....
