Hey SkyGo app development team, pretty concerned that the skygo app running on a surface pro windows 10 64 bit is running in 32bit mode, and whilst it is running it is consuming very high power and memory.

And the same problem for me

Is there any update to this?
I'm running a 64bit system, Sky Go only runs in 32bit mode and it's now sucking up insane CPu usage numbers and causing everything else to slow down.
Slightly annoying really...

I can not open my sky go, it just shows a black screen. I have taken it off and loaded again just the same results.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreWhen you uninstalled the app @daddyblue is this what you do as you do need to remove the hidden files and folders as well, if not give this a go making sure you follow it step by step:
Uninstall the Sky Go app and then go to 'C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming (ensure hidden files/folders are visible) and delete the following folders:
Sky
Sky Go
And if it is present the Cisco folder is App\Data\LocalLow.
Empty your recycle bin.
Reboot your PC and then download and install the Sky Go app again.

Why does this problem still exist? There are multiple multiple forum questions about this problem and nobody has provided a satisfactory answer to the problem as yet.
I have tried the suggestions above - none of them work.
Absolutely shocking from Sky. Please can you either fix this or at least allow us to use an older (working) version. There are forums with this question dating back months!

I have never commented in a community forum in my life.
But after 3 years of coming back intermittently to download the sky go app to try and get it to work on my laptop I think the time has come to vent my anger and frustration.
I have tried all the tricks and tips, but nothing works. The app is simply a shambles for laptops and desktops.
Been with Sky for over 20 years and I cannot believe how much of a hash they have made of the sky go player app for laptops and desktop PC's.
It lterally cannot be run on a PC or desktop because it is 32 bit and most machines are now 64 bit operating systems..
This means the processor gets over worked and it uses up too much power resulting in the fan spinning like the laptop is going to blow up if you don't turn the app off.
Every other streaming app I use does not cause this problem. iPlayer, 4 on demand, netflix all work perfectly fine. But Not Sky Go player. It is a monstrosity.
I am leaving Sky when my contract comes to an end in January if it is not fixed as the product is not fit for purpose.
£100 per month for an app I can't even watch when I'm travelling and not at home. Forget about it.
Over the 20 years, I have been with sky I have paid subscription of approximately £24,000.
I could have developed and built my own streaming app for less and I am only one customer.
No investment in the product or service. Absolute Joke.

Absolutely shocking, PC is unusable when running the app as it sucks so much CPU and power, 32 bit app is unacceptable, fans go crazy when streaming
