Sky Glass firmware QS011.006.00P

My Sky Glass has received new firmware QS011.006.00P. Noticed it yesterday. 

So far I have noticed a few things. When increasing/decreasing volume, the volume gauge seems to fade in and out. 

When you go to the settings tab and type 001 select, there is a new Retail mode tab. I have turned it on and off but so far have not seen a difference to anything within the TV. 

Finally, I'm wondering if Local Dimming has been sorted. The picture looks a lot crisper and blacks appear to be really deep. I may be wrong but on my TV I have settings set to Auto with no changes. The picture is definitely much clearer and colours appear deeper and more defined. 

Has anyone else got the update? What do others think? Also is there anything else people have noticed with the new update. I have looked around but can't find anything else.

Just checked mine and still on 10 - my volume rail fades in and out already

I asked on Twitter and this was shared with me so I feel it's safe to share here too;

 

With the new software release a few of the new features include -

  • being able to purchase a UHD PPV event on Sky Glass or Stream. Customers will be able to view the UHD version on Sky.
  • The ''Because you watched (TV Show)'' feature now gives customers TV Show recommendations based on their watch history, this will work in the same way as Sky Cinema recommendations.
  • We're also making changes to the Playlist on the Home Screen and within the Playlist menu to make things clearer for customers.
  • We have improved the time it takes from standby, this will make is show the menu much faster

I also think something on the local dimming has changed but not 100%.

@Jayboy1990  I think it was mentioned in the closed channel that local dimming was fixed around the q10.x firmware, but I can't be sure who mentioned it.

@Jporch316 Wow QS11 - that should arrive just in time for Christmas.  Comment about the menus working faster is a concern my poor fingers can't keep up on the remote as it is.🤣

@Jayboy1990 Can't seem to find it now, but I remember it was in response to Glass launching in RoI still advertising zonal dimming when we'd previously been told it had been disabled, so it was getting queried by us in the closed channel.

@Jayboy1990 I can confirm one of my pucks updated last night and nothing has changed on the playlist,although this does say we're also making changes so maybe something is in the pipeline

My Sky Stream has updated to QS011 this evening not noticed any difference so far though.

How do you know if you've had an update? Is it a case of just checking or do you get an on screen message? Do you have to do forced updates like with Q?

 

My TV is on 11 the puck is on 10.

 

I'm guessing as the system is new then updates are quite regular at the moment.

You will not get any notification 11 is the latest update,the only way to find out if you updated is to check the system setting,forced updates possible
