Several options have been suggested.  WiFi isn't magic, it's technology: if you don't want to attempt to find a technical fix yourself, then you could choose to employ someone else to do so.

Thanks @TimmyBGood

For you to say "if you don't want to attempt to find a technical fix" isn't great. I have spent many very frustrating hours trying to get to the bottom of this with Sky, my ISP, Dell, TPLink and Microsoft and had a new router installed and two Sky engineer visits. I obviously DO want to resolve this and I'm trying to tick the boxes one by one. I'm not technical but I don't want to spend money on a technician if I can possibly help it - and that's assuming I'd even know where to find a technician who may be able to help me.

OK, so maybe you need to approach it differently, and not complicate the situation with wireless doorbell cameras (which the world functioned reasonably well without until about last year ; )

Strip the network down to the minimum, which could be the router and one client device, preferably wired.  Establish that the router itself is capable of running stably. Extend the network to the most important client device, which sounds like your work PC, over the most stable route possible: that's typically always going to be ethernet.  Consider having the master socket moved if that makes a wired connection viable, or look at potential ethernet routes: I have external cabling to supply network to locations unreachable by WiFi. Expand from there, but prioritise stability.

Unfortunately none of the companies you mentioned are going to be much help: it's not their business model and they are just too big (while simultaneously having too small a profit margin on any individual transaction) to care very much. In most places there are small business network installers whose services you could investigate.
