So i watched the Man Utd V Wolves game last night through BT Vision (Now TV sub with boost) and the HD picture was significantly better than that I get through my Sky Q box. Havent tried UHD as my TV is not 4k but i would guess that Sky have compressed the HD satalite channel to death allowing for UHD to look good.
I'll be leaving Sky when my contract ends and going over to BT.

My grandson persuaded me to get sky sports so even though I thought it was miles too expensive on top of me 64 quid I'm already paying to Virgin I thought why not if it keeps him happy.
But 10 days into it and I discovered that the picture quality is really rubbish I thought it was just him being really fussy but I think it is unwatchable like the early days of YouTube. He is asking me now to pay extra to get HD but haven't sky heard of the fit for purpose clause in the sale of goods act. It is not legal to sell something of poor quality in order to force people to buy something of high quality either it's good enough to watch or it isn't and at the moment it certainly is not. Life is far too hectic to start taking out an action against sky over something is trivial as this so please will you do something about it it expected same quality as I would get if I was watching on a bog standard TV not some weak image where you can hardly see the ball and all the players have frayed edges!

@Prezzure ... HD isn't much better.
try complaining to viewrr@sky.uk.
As you say there must be a standards organisation to complain to.
I'm watching ITV HD for West Ham game now and it's as bad if not worse than sky!
I read with a sky mini box it's not full hd so 720 or 4K.
So you pay out for a SkyQ box but can't have full hd 1080 on your other tv even though you are getting free hd and ultra hd for purchasing multi screen! 😡

@Asdert think you need to be complaining to ITV about the poor HD picture as its nothing to do with Sky. I do agree its a poor picture.
The Sky mini box is capable of full HD (1080p).

I called sky the other day to upgrade to SkyQ and called again to cancel the mini box and keep Sky+ box upstairs as it's not full hd. The call handler agreed this was the case so changed the order.

I must be lucky, my Sky Q mini is set to 1080p and my TV info tells me it is in fact 1080p.

That article is somewhat contradictory..
You get full access to all the Sky Q features through the Mini box, be that live TV, watch recordings stored on the main Sky Q boxes, or view on-demand content. They only work in 720p HD though, not Full HD or 4K Ultra HD.
In addition, even if you have a Sky Q 2TB box capable of playing 4K content, the Sky Q Mini boxes can still only play video in Full HD.
Anyway, I thought the mini box was full HD but could be wrong (somebody might be able to confirm). Edit thanks @trevforum
Back to the ITV FA cup game....that probably is 720p !
Ps. Call handlers have been known to tell you what you want to hear.

@Asdert the call handler was wrong all Sky Q boxes are capable of showing full HD Sky broadcast in 1080i. The call handler may have made a mistake as the minis are not capable of broadcasting in UHD

Think you are might be right as read the email they've sent me and it just says you can't get Ultra.
However, sky football seems to be transmitted in 720 quality (i know it says 1080 in settings). so I wasn't prepared to take the risk. That article was written in July but how correct it is only sky can confirm.
It would still be pointless losing all my recordings on My Sky+ box if I can't get ultimate upstairs. Call handler said I can keep Sky+ even though I'm getting one SkyQ box. Hope they don't cancel my sky+ card.
I'm paying for Ultimate via multiroom so why can it transmit 4K upstairs. With Netflix, which I get separately, it shows 4K on both TVs via the app, so why can't sky mini boxes.

@Asdert not sure what the call handler was saying but you cannot have an active Q account and an active Sky + HD account at the same address. You would also need a Hybrid LNB to allow your Sky+HD box to work but it will only work as a freesat receiver and will not give you acces to Sky channes in your package you will also lose access to your recordings on the box
The Q main boxes are not capable of transmitting a UHD/4K signal to the mini boxes and the mini boxes don't have the required hardware to receive a UHD/4K signal.
The netflix apps on your TV show UHD/4K as your TV's can receive a UHD/4K signal and ate connected direct to the internet

She definitely said you could and I double checked as I said to her well 'yes I suppose you can as people in the same house could have 2 different contracts.' I better ring them again.
I do think you are right as I read the email they sent me again and it implies what you are saying that's why I mentioned it.
Let's hope the Sky mini box is Full HD then!
I'm watching Expedition X on Discovery HD atm and the pic is definitely not full HD so hope all HD pics won't be like that. Everthing seems to have gone wrong since they brought HDR in. Before If you put an Hd channel on all programs were full HD, now they seem to vary.

Watching 1080p sky sports qpr now and looks not as good as last matches why

It is shocking, blurred from a distance as per usual.
I've just changed to SkyQ from Sky+ and it's exactly the same if not worse on HD. However when the Premier is in Ultra HD it is as I would expect it to be in HD and a good picture, only 10-20% better but it's not blurred. It's never Ultra Hd though as I have BT Ultra HD and never as good.
At least I can watch the Premier in HD now which is an improvement but only downstairs as Sky mini boxes don't broadcast ultra Hd.
