Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
@Q-tips - could you please explain how to "power cycle" the main box ?
Is that a full reset or simply a basic reboot (turn off/on at the mains) ?
Thanks - DK

@Q-tips wrote:FWIW, I've uploaded a video showing an example of the pixelation glitches I'm seeing (on both live TV and recordings) since the Q160 update arrived. Details in the description. Previously they were narrow horizontal strips of distortion but Q160 upgrades them to full screen distortion.
Oh dear
For the record, I may have to withdraw my complaint. Two nights ago I power cycled the main box (for the second time since the arrival of Q160) and since then I haven't seen a recurrence of either pixellation glitches or audio dropouts on my two Minis. Tonight's footy will confirm albeit last night's match, yesterday's Wimbledon, yesterday's Tour de France and today's SkySportsNews (all live) and a handful of recordings have passed without incident.
Disappointingly, I saw three pixellation glitches during the footy tonight so I'll leave it to the Sky engineer to sort out.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
Have had 160 for best part of a week. Sound drop offs better on main box but not minis. Has not fixed the problems with pixelation (mini hard wired to main box) and whilst SSDP flooding appears to be partly solved, Wi-Fi is now slowing to a crawl at times and is no longer fixed by resetting the main Q box. Customer support have advised this is a known issue with 2.4 ghz, which slows connectivity (if using V3 box?). They are apparently working on a fix as they have only known about it for 2 weeks, despite telling me about in in February! Fix is new software to SR 203 router probably in a month or so but can't give time lines (again) or tell me what the fixes are meant to fix. They apparently are unaware of the pixelation issues which is not a known issue despite having previously been told 160 was meant to fix this. This has been going on for far too long and getting too many conflicting stories from Exec Cust Priority. Getting to the stage just can't trust what I am being told anymore as it lurches from one problem to another and just want to use what I am paying a lot of money for

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
The Q160 software update has introduced new glitches never seen before on my hardwired system - including extensive pixellation which is embedded in the recording, ie it appears again on rewind…and it also appears on the main SkyQ box as well as the two Minis. Does that imply that Sky's signal or the cabling from my dish are faulty?
I was able to video grab this extreme example of embedded faults which also includes an image freeze and a very long audio dropout. The same sequence streamed via Sky Go was free from glitches.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
Hi
If you can watch same recording on sky go the original media stream on hard drive must be ok so dish and cabling not at fault. I am having the same problem and have had 5 engineering visits and have one on Tuesday. They want to hardwire my mini box which will be a pain as will be a very long and difficult wire run.
I am the same as you if I watch any recording using my iPad the are perfect.
Funny though we watched some soaps last night and problems were numerous but then watch 3 episodes of Honour all perfect.
Getting really fed up as only really watch mini box.
So if you are hard wired could be a waste of time on Tuesday for me.

My Sky Go can't access my recordings (reports "invalid code signature" when trying to connect) so it was streaming from Sky's servers. It simply illustrates that my local network is working fine.
My SkyQ system is hardwired from start to end with Cat6 ethernet cable and when I disconnect the cables and switch SkyQ's wi-fi back on, it doesn't seem to make any difference. Your mileage may vary.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
I've had the pixalation problem on my mini box. When it was first installed it was fine the issue started late last year.
My problems are mainly with recorded problems on ITV HD. I can watch other live channels and other recorded problems on other channels and they are fine.
I now have the Q160 update and was hoping that would solve the issue but it hasn't. I've power cycled my main box as someone suggested but it made no difference. I know others are still having the same issue but there's is with different channels.
I can't understand how other recordings are fine but one channel in particular is effected its annoying and frustrating, especially when you are paying so much for Sky in the first place. My main box is connected to the router via an ethernet cable, I have turned the WiFi off on the main box to avoid interference. I have no problems with a WiFi signal upstairs. Even Netflix and Amazon prime play fine.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
My pixelation is just as bad and have re opened up my complaint. I would like to ask a question, people getting pixelation are you Sky mesh and sky broadband hardwired or WiFi, or not sky broadband and no mesh.
My son has Bt broadband and hard wired all devices and system works perfectly.
last engineering visit engineer said everything seems fine, and apart from hardwiring no other suggestions, which is a very difficult wiring run.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
My hardwired system has had frequent video and audio glitches on both live viewing and recordings (it still had them when I switched the system over to wi-fi for testing). I don't have Sky (fibre) broadband nor BT but I do have a mesh system (Linksys Velop Tri-band) with four nodes wired together and to the router. This gives me 930Mbps up and down throughout the house and none of my other connected devices has any prolems, whether wired or wi-fi.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
Did anyone pick up on a early thread where someone deleted a huge amount of old recordings from their main box and the pixelation on the minis disappeared on him. Almsot sounds like possible fragmentation issues on the hard drive.
Anyone else tried this...

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
@Skycambs My main box is connected via ethernet cable to my Sky Broadband router which is fibre 70 mbs. My mini boxes are wireless.
I've switched off my main box as a WiFi hotspot to avoid any conflict with the router. Every channel apart from ITV HD is fine, Netflix and Prime also.
I can't understand why one channel is affected but the others are not. If I watch ITV live that is also fine. Its so annoying.

Re: Pixelation on recordings mini box
I tried this back in January, it had no effect, although it did seem logical as I have a first gen box that was almost full at one point.
