Hi
my inlaws landline is not working - they have internet connection but cant seem to get online to get help. Please advise how I can get the landline checked or if I need to report it to Openreach how to do that !

The below troubleshooting link may be of help. If a fault is found outside their property they can then arrange an engineer repair:

Sky will pass it to Openreach to carry out the repair. You can't contact Openreach direct. Openreach normally aim to fix reported faults within 3-5 working days of being notified of them, but that could easily lengthen, for example; if bad weather causes high demand or if they have to get permission to dig up roads.

They will need to be logged in so they can run the tests. If a fault is found it should let them book an engineer..
