@Colin+335

Assuming that's a mini-TOSLINK socket, you could try a mini-TOSLINK to TOSLINK cable, or an adapter to get a standard TOSLINK cable to fit (although I think I'd be reluctant to start poking such things into the back of loaned hardware).

@Colin+335 Forum has got you an answer and the offer of it being passed to one of the Sky employees on here to be sorted.  Calling up Sky you would need to go through the whole story over the phone with an agent who probably wont have a clue what your are talking about.  Most of the folk on here at least have some technical knowledge.

@bemak187 Hi yes thankyou for the offer, then please escalate through the forum and thankyou for all who have contributed . I am still stuned by what appears to have happened, extremely not right practice , what I cannot believe that a sky engineer just left it like that it was taken out a box and to all intensive purposes purported to be new ! I think by hook or crook now I should have the top end latest box as long as it has opitical out ! Thanks again guys. Please escalate !

Remember..... If you get a new sky Q box, and you don't have one already, you will need a new toslink cable to fit into the new box.

Sky don't promise 'new' boxes to customers: they aren't selling them to us, so they don't have to. It's entirely possible that an order placed by a first-time Sky subscriber today could result in a refurbished current-model box being assigned, particularly as they have a stated corporate aim to reduce e-waste.

Hi @Colin+335 as the others have said I don't recall ever seeing a connection like that which, as you say, will cause the cable connection to be easily disturbed & hence your problems.

I see @Chrisee has escalated your post , so hopefully this will result in you getting a box with a standard Toslink connector so you can make and keep a good connection to your AV amp

As someone else mentioned, if you don't already have one, do get an optical cable with toslink connectors at both ends to hook it up,

@nigea99 Hi Again, yes thanks again ,  will order, but funny enough it was the Toslink end at the amp that was playing up and not Sky box end that can fall out without even touching it I have learnt a few things today !
