Output Optical cable Sky Q 1TB HD box what is the type of connector socket on back of unit.

As title and I am refering to the opitcal out port not HDMI. The previous Sky box this round connector used to fit snug in the previous  Old hat HD box but this cable plug that is round with an outer sleeve is just plain loose and falls out at times, it works but not right,  the amp end has a different plug whick is I believe called Toslink. I have seen searching the internet only one other person highlighted the same issue back in 2016 . I really do not know what going on hear , I only discovered this a couple of years back but when fitted the Sky engineer said nothing. Bizzare !

@Colin+335 it is a toslink connecter but it sounds like your box's socket is broken as it should click in. Early Q boxes had this issue a lot but I haven't heard of it recently but suspect Sky needs to swap the box out for you.

@Chrisee

Hi it is not a Toslink in the back of the sky unit, it looks totally round, a bit like what a co axial connector would look like but it is definatly outputting opitical as I have and can see  the light output the other end which is a toslinlk square and only goes in one way an I am getting DD on amp ! the sky box does not look as it has a broken socket but is totally diferent !

@Colin+335  There is no round connector on a sky q box, apart from the satellite connectors.

Maybe you can post a photo of what you are referring to

@Colin+335 every Q box has an optical TOS link connecter on the back as pictured in this post if your's is different you either have a new type of box with a connecter I have never seen or it is broken - TOS connecters do break if the cable is yanked out.

This is an image of the design used on the Sky Q V1 receivers, whenever it snapped apart I was always luckily able to re-assemble it after searching for the bits that had sprung off.

There is a standard round optical audio format (Mini-TOSLINK) which looks like a hollow mini-jack (with a matching socket on the host device) but we've never seen one on a Q box.

@Colin+335 You might have broken the little "flap" off on the optical port.  This is not just a cover its part of the locking system for the TOS link plug.  Mini boxes do have a round 3.5mm AV port but this isnt an optical port.

Never seen that before.  That does not look like the back of a Sky Q box.
