Number of new Movies reduced
I have noticed that Sky no longer provides a new premier film every day, the intention apparently is to concentrate on quality rather than quantity.
In order for me to assess whether I wish to continue with my sky movies subscription does anyone know the frequency that new movies will be provided as one of the main reasons that I subscribe is because of the daily new release.
Also I wonder if there be a reduction in cost for the reduction in service provision? I doubt it.

@Pete+020 I'm not sure any of your fellow customers could even begin to tell you of the frequency new movies will be provided.

I'd suggest the viewerR@sky.uk email address is likely to be the only avenue which might bring any enlightenment.

Looking at digital spy article (you can Google it by search for it by "sky cinema January 2022"), it looks like a new one on Fridays, Saturday, and Sundays for January 2022 at least

Re: Number of new Movies reduced
The promo from Sky indicates more Sky Original Movies. In my opinion the Sky Original Movies have been poor.

Like any others working with limited budget, it's a mixed bag: they don't exactly have MCU-category resources to work with.
- Save The Cinema: Samantha Morton, Jonathan Pryce, Adeel Akhtar, Susan Wokoma and Tom Felton star in this new British film based on true events. Liz Evans makes it her mission to stop her local cinema from being demolished.
- The United States v Billie Holiday: In the 1940’s, the US government targeted beloved jazz icon Billie Holiday as part of their war on drugs, to prevent her from performing her heart-wrenching ballad “Strange Fruit,” a defiant cry against lynching. Directed by Lee Daniels, written by Suzan-Lori Parks and starring Andra Day.
- A Boy Called Christmas: An ordinary young boy called Nikolas sets out on an ex-traordinary adventure into the snowy north in search of his father who is on a quest to discover the fabled village of the elves, Elfhelm. Based on the bestselling book by Matt Haig, starring Jim Broadbent, Maggie Smith, Kristen Wiig, Sally Hawkins and Toby Jones, produced by Blueprint Pictures and StudioCanal and directed by Gil Kenan.
- Kindred: A psychological thriller about a vulnerable mother-to-be who is taken in by her recently deceased boyfriend’s mother and stepson, who seem increasingly obsessed with her every move. Starring Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Tamara Lawrence (The Long Song) and Jack Lowden (Mary Queen of Scots, Dunkirk).
- Creation Stories: Written by Irvine Welsh and Dean Cavanagh, Creation Stories charts the true story of the rise and fall of Creation Records and its infamous founder Alan McGee, who signed generation-defining bands such as Oasis and Primal Scream.
- Breaking News in Yuba County: A dark and twisted comedy that explores the outrageous lengths some people will go to in order to garner some much-desired attention. Starring Allison Janney, Mila Kunis and Awkwafina.
- Six Minutes to Midnight: Emmy Award ® winner Eddie Izzard and Academy Award® winner Judi Dench battle to protect a group of students from the grip of Hitler in this World War II thriller.
- The Comeback Trail: Two movie producers who owe money to the mob set up their aging movie star for an insurance scam to try and save themselves. Starring Robert DeNiro, Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones and Zach Braff.
- Antebellum: A terrifying new thriller with a kiss of horror from the producer of the acclaimed films Get Out and Us, starring Janelle Monáe.
- The Glorias: The Glorias is the female led story of feminist icon Gloria Steinem; known for her world-shaping activism, guidance of the revolutionary women’s movement, and writing that has impacted generations. Written and directed by Julie Taymor.
- Every Breath You Take: Academy Award-winning actor Casey Affleck stars as a psychiatrist who finds his life in turmoil following the sudden suicide of his patient. When he invites his patient’s surviving brother (Sam Claflin) into his home to meet his wife (Michelle Monaghan) and daughter, his family life and career are suddenly torn apart.
- Extinct Op and Ed are two adorable donut-shaped animals -- FLUMMELS -- who accidentally time-travel from 1835 to modern-day Shanghai. Starring Rachel Bloom, Adam Devin and Ken Jeong.
- Monster Family 2 To free Baba Yaga and Renfield from the clutches of Monster Hunter Mila Starr, the Wishbone Family once more transforms into a Vampire, Frankenstein's Monster, a Mummy and a Werewolf. Starring Jason Isaacs, Emily Watson and Nick Frost.
- The Secrets We Keep In post-WWII America, a woman rebuilding her life in the suburbs with her husband kidnaps her neighbour and seeks vengeance for the heinous war crimes she believes he committed against her. Starring Noomi Rapace, Chris Messina and Joel Kinnaman.

Remember that Sky Cinema customers will be getting Paramount+ for free, when that launches, later this year.

Re: Number of new Movies reduced
this really isn't good news, Sky carry on the way they are they will lose customers, Sky Movies has always been the latest movies, if they are trying to keep their channels for mainly Sky Originals where do we get the other latest movies from?! plus very few Sky Originals are very good.
My set up;
Sky Q - full package with 2TB HDR box & 4 mini boxes, all hardwired by ethernet.
Sky Superfast Broadband.
Panasonic 50" 4K TV.
Panasonic 4k Bluray Player.
Sonos 5.1 Surround Sound System.

Re: Number of new Movies reduced
In terms of numbers, they’re still in a fantastic position for studio titles - long terms deals with WarnerMedia, Sony and Paramount (they’re still getting their theatrical titles), NBCU as a sister company, deals with EOne and Studiocanal (and the direct beneficiary of them selling some titles to streaming) and and though not a pay 1 deal, strong ties with Altitude for features and docs. Even without Disney & the majority of 20th Century’s output I doubt there is any significant loss in the number of theatrical titles available to them (outside of the obvious pandemic related issues).
I don't doubt they still could get a daily movie but given by past threads on here, then it's just complaints about the quality of them or the fact they're totally unknown (and don't get me started on the loss of world cinema Wednesdays where they did manage to show some great titles)...
...and if those small movies are not getting the level of engagement they need, then a movie a day becomes an increasingly diminished return so I can't blame them if they think a change of strategy might help and that the money used for unknown and little watched titles can be better invested into originals which can be star driven, better promoted as a result and that they can own long term...
I liked the movie a day as well (and they did show some little gems on occasion) but if it wasn't working for them commercially as it once was I can't blame them for trying something else.
Still in search of a great signature! I’ll get there one day!

Re: Number of new Movies reduced
I agree with you that when there was a premiere per day more people would and did complain about the quality of them.
Think I may have been one of them, used to see the premiere for the day and thought Nah!!
So many looked like low budget/straight to DVD kinda movies so in the end I cancelled it
Although I did renew just before Chrismas and managed to get it added for £5 per month - this came about cos they also decided to finally give me HD for free thus reducing that cost by £4 per month so my monthly cost only gone up in total by a fiver.
Lets see how it goes. If I dont watch anything I can cancel it anytime

That's inevitable, though, because the movie studios have always specifically spaced out the release of 'premium' content to avoid cinema audience fatigue. The only way Sky could ever have run a big-budget premiere every day (even before Covid started to seriously disrupt global film production) would have been to not release any premieres at all for a few years to build up a backlist, and that wouldn't exactly have done a lot for subscriber numbers.

Re: Number of new Movies reduced
Just got this back from Sky:
Thanks for your further email.
As advised Sky Cinema is moving away from having a daily premiere, with the focus on higher grade studio titles. However there should still be 3 premiers a week.
