Hi
We were using our sky + box as a Freeview platform in our lounge after our sky subscription ended a year or so ago. We also have a separate second connection to a second sky+ box and tv in our bedroom.
My mother in law briefly moved in during lockdown and her new sky Q box was connected up in the lounge, but after she moved back out a week or so ago along with her Q box, I reconnected our original Sky + box but I now get a no satellite signal message. I have tried restarting the box several times, and tried to reconnect the wiring but to no avail. There is definitely nothing wrong with the dish as the TV in the bedroom continues to work normally and is receiving channels as usual.
Anyone have any idea what the issue is here?
Thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAny local satellite/aerial installation company can replace the LNB (The bit on the dish arm the cables plug into)
LNBs are not that expensive so don't get robbed

Thanks
Not quite sure how to do this as no one came to install the q box, and nothing was changed on the dish, I just hooked the q box up to the existing dish and cables that had been connected to the sky+ box.
Any idea how I can remove this LNB to restore the signal ?
Thank you

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreI'm confused as a Sky Q system requires a wideband connection, Sky+ is defintely not wideband so don't know how you got it to work 😕

Actually come to think of it, you could be right. My wife recalls someone coming to actually set it up so they probably did adjust something on the dish 🤦🏽♂️
Do you know how I can undo what's been done? As I'm out of subscription I guess I need a non sky contracted engineer
thanks

This must mean that you had a Hybrid LNB fitted (which enables Sky Q and Sky + boxes to co-exist). As far as I know (and someone more knowledgeable will correct me), Hybrid LNB's can accommodate more than one Sky+ box, so it may just be a case of switching the cables from the SkyQ box into a spare pair of sockets on the LNB. Take a look if the LNB has spare sockets.

Thanks @oj01
Will try this, not sure which of these are the correct ports to connect up to. Any suggestions appreciated!
Thanks so much

Luckily there looks like 2 spare ports on your LNB, you could carefully unscrew the two cables that go to the livingroom and screw them into the middle empty sockets, be careful not to move the alignment of the LNB

Sorted already!!

Well done!
How did you manage to do it? When I checked the LNB, the middle two holes that are free don't actually have any ports inside that I can connect the cables to. Seems odd as the free holes are labelled legacy along with the ports feeding the working sky box in our bedroom. The ports connecting to the lounge are labelled wide band, and presumably this is why they aren't providing a signal to the sky + box.
any thoughts as to whether I can rectify this myself? If not I'll just have a to get a dish/aerial fitter out to sort it.
thanks

Are you sure the sockets are not just behind protective plugs, as they would need to be fully protected from rain damage etc... I would be surprised if the had the space for the sockets but no actual sockets
