Defo not a Samsung issue. I'm LG and have had this problem consistently from installation. Fine for last few months and started again. Absolutely sick of it now. Rubbish. @sky

I have done everything I possibly can. Ive had engineers round testing the signal strength. One engineer told me to change the picture settings between 1080p and 1080i every time it happens. I unplug the sky q box for a minute or 2 to let it re boot. I have bought another hdmi cable. I have also had them tell me to check with the company who installed my digital aerial that I have all the necessary equiptment from them which I do so it is compatible. Nothing has worked. If there are so many of us having this problem it is clearly an issue with skys equiptment. @Sky

Last week an engineer called as I was having major picture problems (but not the black screen). The engineer replaced the box and all looked great, but literally an hour after she had departed we started getting intermittent issues with the screen going black for a second. Some days it occurrs much more frequently than others.
During her visit the engineer also replaced the HDMI cable and moved it from HDMI 1 to HDMI 3 (as it was more accessible on the side of the TV).
This evening the black screen issue was very regular so we moved the cable back to the HDMI 1 socket and (touch wood) have been watching for 4 hours without an issue.
Will keep you posted.

Ignore my previous post!
After no problems last night after switching to HDMI1 watching Pointless this evening the screen is again going black. Damn!

The weird thing about this issue is that live playback and recordings aren't affected by the black screen issue. That to me points towards connectivity issues between the box and the TV.

Ahhh it happy mostly to us when we are watching recordings. Very very frustrating.

So after bring ded up of this happening i rang sky and got someone out. Iv had both my sky q mini and main box changed and its worked. Had no problems since. He did say to me it could be an account issues meaning they just need to clear your account to get them talking to esch other nothing you have done.
hope this helps people

@Trac91 ZO had a new box installed and the reciever replaced 7 days ago. Although this fixed my existing issues, the black screen issue started shortly after.
I hope you have more luck with your new set-up.

We've had loads of issues with our Samsung TV & Sky Q box since we had it installed a few years ago. Basically it might sometimes start up with a black screen and at other times work absolutely fine. Have tried an HDMI splitter, which seemed to partially help - but now I think I've got a solution.
I installed one of these in the HDMI link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07VXP3CP5 ("EDID Manager, HDMI EDID Feeader, EDID Manager Emulator with 16 Kinds of EDID Mode for Audio and Video Equipment, Support 4K CEC"). It doesn't require a power supply (it gets a tiny bit of power from the HDMI cable).
It hides the EDID of the display (which is how an HDMI source learns what the display can support) from the Sky Q box and inserts a predefined EDID instead. I selected the "4k 2CH" EDID and plugged it all in - all seemed well. I then selected a 4k resolution on the Sky Q box and it then asked me to confirm that the TV was capable of this resolution, and also let me choose 8 or 10 bit colour (I chose 8).
Since doing all this (several days ago) we've had no problems whatsoever. Hope this works for other people.

I got a new SkyQ box in the end and haven't had an issue since.

Update to earlier post:
I booked a Sky engineer appointment. He saw the issue and replaced the box. I have not seen this issue for past 3 months (post replacement of the box).

I have the same issue, thought it was my TV because it is quite old. Have many people had same issue?

My sky picture keeps blanking - both on live programmes and recordings. Clearly not our LG TV as it doesn't happen when on terrestrial source. This is our 3rd Q box in last 4 months having had failed hard drives. This is getting really annoying

I resolved my issue by replacing the HDMI cables with Amazon Basics HDMI 2.0 cables.

I had same problem got a new smart tv and picture kept going black, ended up watching through mini box. I have ended going back to my old tv and my son has my new one no problems since.
