Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Just had the new hub delivered about an hour ago by Parcelforce (only ordered yesterday afternoon). Courier waited whilst I unpacked the new hub and then took away the old Q hub in the packaging which came with the new one and gave me a tracking receipt before he left .. can’t ask for more simple! Set the new hub up and all good so far, definitely better on the WiFi but the speed to the actual hub has dropped slightly from the 76mb that I was getting down to about 74mb but no issues with that. Router rebooted after about 30 mins and installed new firmware but working solid since then so more than happy 👌

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Have located my new router at the top of my stairs so had to use adsl/vdsl cable to and cat 7 ethernet cable from it back to my Sky Q box.. Both cables are 15 meters each and work fine.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Why are they using 2 different carriers? Well they're the same but they use RM for sky q router and PF for the new router?

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Probably so you can give your old hub to them for returning, RM delivery would just give you the new hub.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Yep, as others have already said - the new unit gives a significantly higher RF level on both bands. It also runs much cooler.
Also (wihout going into details), it is more secure than the original Sky Q Hub and something else (that I've not seen anyone else mention) is the increased wifi bandwidth:
Old unit
2.4 gHz 144.4 Mbps
5 gHz 1300.05 Mbps
New unit
2.4 gHz 288.9 Mbps
5 gHz 1733.4 Mbps

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
FTTP is delivered by Openreach. Only when Openreach have cabled your area to enable fibre to premise in your road will Sky, or any other provider be able to offer it..

The point is that even when Openreach have put FTTP into your street, Sky still won’t offer you an FTTP service.

They can't at the moment but FTTP from Sky should be here before the end of the year apparently.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Sorry for my absence on the subject, been a busy couple of weeks, so the brilliant sky broadband tech team (Ashley) came round today. Changed my master socket over and now the speed to the router is just over 62mbps! WiFi speed has shot up from 30 to 55. Very happy indeed. He offered great tips and advice. And also switched off broadcast on the sky Q box as it is in close proximity to my hub as he said the WiFi signals would of been counteracting each other.
(Edit) Just checked the app and even though it states 62mbps it still says that the broadband speed could be performing better, I wonder if it will gradually increase?

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
@Proz unless you can edit the field on the device no you can't as you cant edit that field on the hub.

Re: My experience with the new Sky Broadband Hub
Also can you look at my router stats to see if everything is good? Its hard to tell of an improvement with the new hub. On day 1 I tested 70mbps upstairs on my iPhone 8 Plus, the router is downstairs. That is amazing. Its gone down to 40 now, also I am not noticing much difference with the Ping speeds its still around 15ms
