Ignore what Sky website says
You can't do manual software update
Updates are rolled out by Sky per account
Some customers will gets updates before others

This method forces your device to the newest firmware available for your MAC address
if the user is on a version that is not the current one available to them .....

I discussed this with Sky in August 2022 as it did not work to try force a update
Software updates are rolled out in batches some customers get updates before others
If your Sky Glass or Sky Stream is scheduled to get update this will happen automatically when Sky Glass/Sky Stream is on Standby mode
If customer has powered off at socket they will get update if their Sky Glass or Sky Stream is on list to be updated next time they powered on at socket.
Updates are done early morning
I for example will be getting QS018 likely next week but most other customers will be getting towards end of May or June

Hi @Paul+Boland
Given you get updates before anyone, I assume you've been on QS017.005.02P for a while now?
Thanks,
Tim

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreYou misunderstand
if the device is "stuck" on an older firmware version the method @TimmyBGood posted will get you on to the correct version
the poster seems to be "stuck" on an older version of qs017

If your Sky Glass or Sky Stream is on schedule list to get update it happens automatically
This why some customers get software updates before others
When I get QS018 you won't get that software version until its scheduled to be sent to your Sky Glass or Sky Stream
As in you won't be able to force to QS018 if your device not on list to get update.
Some minor version updates are sent to all same time but not always
Example QS017 has had a few different versions
The reason why I likely get updates early is because I have had Sky Glass and Sky Stream before the official launch happened in Republic of Ireland

A Sky employee posted on the 3rd of May that they were aware of the issue, why has this not been fixed yet? We can't be expected to restart the puck multiple times each day!!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreAs per the postings above the roll out of the updated software started last night 😀. I will take a few days for everyone to receive the update. The reports from those that have received it so far are very positive 😀.

I'm a new customer and have had the Sky Stream Puck for a couple of weeks. It's already been replaced as it kept freezing with the same messages as others have posted. Not sure how many calls I've made to Tech Support but they have so far.....
Advised me to remove the ethernet cable to use wi-fi only. No help. Move the puck away from any other devices. No help. Re-connect the ethernet cable and disable wi-fi, No help. Got a new puck. Great for 2 days then started the same old routine, except now I only have to remove the power lead from the puck rather than turning everything off at the socket. I can watch catch up or Netflix/Prime wih no problems, it's just live TV that's the issue and quite honestly I'm sick of it. It's really annoying when you're in the middle of your favourite series and off it goes. Will there ever be a fix?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Rubylove199 I feel your frustration.
There is a software update being rolled out for Stream pucks at the moment and the reports are very promising relating to bugs fixed 😀. Hopefully this will help with your issues.
The new update is QS017.005.02P (the previous one ended in 01P) See some of the posts above for further details.

Thank you for the reassuring reply! Does the update automatically get done or do I have to do anything?
I hope the update works; I like Sky Stream and would be sorry if I had to replace it.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Rubylove199 your welcome. As @Jporch316 says there is nothing for you to do. In case you are not aware you can check which software version you are on at Settings > System Management and then View the build number.
