@picasso10 - I'm sure the alternate update method has been mentioned before, so I can't take credit but glad it helped.
@Kei+M - A long time coming but Q160 is looking (sounding) good so far for me. Please pass on my thanks to those that worked on this.
Cheers !

We'll leave this thread for a few weeks and assuming nothing major comes to light we'll close it off and let people create their own threads around their own specific scenario as we're increasingly more confident that we've found a fix for the vast majority of people here.
Thanks,
Fair enough but as one of the minority of customers still experiencing problems under Q160, I'm hoping that my (third) Sky engineer visit on Thursday can find the cause of my ongoing (Mini) audio dropouts and pixelation glitches. He may replace my satellite cabling or even swap out both of my Minis as everything else has been check and tested. Fingers crossed. Primarily for his benefit, I have uploaded post-Q160 examples of the glitches to Youtube:
https://youtu.be/SlqWJSRZr6I (pixel corruption)
https://youtu.be/3ocN1Aqv5Ao (pixel corruption)
https://youtu.be/Z5_WC0orRQc (audio dropout)
For the record, I may have to withdraw my complaint. Two nights ago I power cycled the main box (for the second time since the arrival of Q160) and since then I haven't seen a recurrence of either pixellation glitches or audio dropouts on my two Minis. Tonight's footy will confirm albeit last night's match, yesterday's Wimbledon, yesterday's Tour de France and today's SkySportsNews (all live) and a handful of recordings have passed without incident.

Still on v1 main box, but since rollout of updated software the 3 mini boxes struggle to maintain connection to the main box with constant drop outs. Using other internet based apps ie iPlayer on the mini's are fine. Main box and 1 mini is hard-wired, other 2 are wi-fi. All boxes, and router have been rebooted.
Only other change at the same time is introduction of soundbar, and dolby digital plus on the main box, nothing else has changed.

Don't know if anyone else had this but watching the football live last night on ITV I had quite a few long audio drop outs, trying to work out if it is my setup or a broadcast issue. Didn't notice any on recordings last night

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@SteveBass Watched live ITV for game and didn't have a single drop out

Strangely I had no issues on the main box during the match but notable sound issues on the mini after during live broadcasts from BBC
08 Jul 2021 08:24 AM
@SteveBass I had the same. Can't remember when but it was well into the game and they were a rather 'unusual' type of drop out accompanied by an odd noise. Lasted about 5 to 10 minutes. I suspect a broadcast issue.

Thanks all for the replies, these drop outs were very much like the audio drop outs experienced with recordings before Q160, though I respect that most seem to have no issues I still seem to be getting sound drop outs, will monitor over the next few days

No audio issues for me - but I did suffer a recurrence of the video distortion glitches.

Still getting the occasional sound drop during live tv with Q160 but far fewer than previously.

Hi All,
Well we finaly got the Q160 update installed on our V3 Sky Q Box yesterday.
Last night was the first time since we got Sky Q (about two years) that we where able to watch Sky TV/Netflix/recodings without a sound/frame dropout every 5-10 mins .... so in that respect well done Sky for finaly soliving this long term issue.
We Will continue to monitor it for the next few days and report if we have any dropouts but so far it's looking very good, Its just a shame that it has taken Sky so long to address the issue.
Cheers
Jay

I have the update Q160.000.20.00L and the sound is STILL on/off juddery, having to pause/play/pause/rewind to resolve the sound issues!

I'm on Q160 and not only am I still getting audio drop outs (albeit not as bad as they were) I am also now getting connectivity issues with my mini. So not impressed so far...

@Perfectionist+dur wrote:You'll love it. Really. I'm dropout free, and have been for weeks now. I'm even finding the sound quality better overall (my AV amp is picking up sound quality from the Q box that I didn't have before). Maybe I'm dreaming.
There are a lot of members here reporting pixelation and other sound issues. I'm happy to say I don't have any of those issues at all.
I hope your experience matches mine.
